๐จ BREAKING
A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff at Edwards Air Force Base in California at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time.
Video from the scene appears to show a massive debris field, active fire, and what looks like the near-total destruction of the aircraft.
At this time, officials have not released information on the crew's status, casualties, or the cause of the crash.
The B-52 first entered service in the 1950s and remains a key part of America's long-range bomber fleet, despite extensive modernization efforts intended to keep the aircraft operational into the 2050s.
Anyone claiming they already know whether this was pilot error, maintenance failure, mechanical malfunction, modernization issues, budget decisions, or political leadership is guessing.
Right now, the facts are simple:
โข B-52 crashed shortly after takeoff
โข Emergency crews remain on scene
โข Large debris field visible
โข Cause unknown
โข Crew status unknown
More information is expected as the Air Force releases updates.
