McDonald’s is testing a new AI drive-thru system called ArchIQ at 5 U.S. locations. The system was introduced as part of McDonald’s new “McDonald’s Next” strategy, which is focused on modernizing restaurants and improving operations. The AI can take drive-thru orders, speak with customers in English and Spanish, and help managers spot potential issues inside the restaurant. According to reports, the system has already processed over 1 million transactions, with about 90% of orders completed without a human worker needing to step in. We are slowly turning into a black mirror episode

This person has not read a book in 50 years if they think short paragraphs and simple prose are hard to find

It’s a timely moment for that class of academics who are, while positioning themselves as Democratic Party members, complete quislings — eager not only to comply in advance, but to throw further-left colleagues, projects, fields under the bus for a bit of power and recognition

Better off majoring in STEM and having a humanities hobby then majoring in the humanities at the flagship State University system of the United States of America. Amazing.
A Berkeley history professor said he’s gone from assigning 100 pages of reading per week to 35. Another “said the earliest version of the…course he taught required seven full books, while his most recent iteration exclusively consisted of excerpts.” “We are now reaching a crisis point where if the number (of pages) goes down further, it’s unclear to me whether my discipline of history can really be taught,” the first one said.

Well, how about leading by example – and also teaching some discipline?

Degrees vary in what proportion of students choose it only because they think (rightly or wrongly) that it is a good area for a high paying job. The higher the proportion, the more cheating you will see, and the lower value on the market the degree will actually have.
Educators across every academic field are struggling to contain AI-assisted cheating. Our charts illustrate which students are the heaviest users of such tools economist.com/graphic-detail…

I’ve been informed by folks on this site that The Hobbit and now Jane Austen are too difficult for teens. I can’t stress enough how condescending this is to teenagers. You’re taking away all the things that might bring them joy and leaving them with no pastimes but scrolling.
