The few people who have wasted their time to tell me I am scaremongering clearly haven't been following the original progression of this bill. Everyone wants to have dignity in death but we can achieve that through better palliative care not state sponsored euthanasia.
Not a day goes by when I don't find myself worrying about our son Thomas's care when we are both too old or dead but now at least we can stop worrying because the government is putting in plans, once again, to euthanize him to take the burden off the benefits bill. Phew!

69m people in the UK 16m have a disability - of which only 4m 'working age', claim sickness/disability benefits. The welfare bill hasn't ballooned disabilitynewsservice.com/ne… 65% of first PIP claimed are turned down
Replying to @resfoundation
1. The PIP caseload continues to grow, and reached 4 million in April this year. This is an increase of 7 per cent, or an extra 270,000 recipients, compared to April 2025. These are almost entirely new claimants, not people migrating from DLA.

It's getting to the point where it looks like you are being paid to constantly demonise those on welfare. It's now almost every single day you allow misinformation to be spouted, you even spout it yourself.

I have to say, I agree. As a disabled adult who has made The majority of my lasting friendship connections through social media, it has been a really important way for me too get to know new people, many of whom I now couldn't imagine not having in my life. The blanket ban come with the risk of preventing disabled kids from being able to make similar online connections at a time when the off-line world is already alone and inaccessible place for many.
The Royal Society for Blind Children and the National Deaf Children's Society have both come out against the Starmer social media ban. "Internet bad" is a trendy, upper-middle-class opinion for people with extracurricular budgets that ignores legions of people who rely on it.

Yeah - disability isnt the same as sickness. The number of people with any sort of disabling condition is stable and has been for years across the planet. Disabled people work. Of those, few get PIP. If you are too sick to work you can get sickness benefits. 1 in 4 are NOT sick.
1 in 4 people now report as disabled. But we can't afford to sign off 25% off the population. Bold action is needed. Not piecemeal tweaks. @Conservatives will rip up the current sickness benefits system and start again. This morning I'll kick off our review at @restate_thinks

Why have people learnt nothing from 1930's Germany? Assisted Dying, or as the Nazi's called it, "Gnadentod," or merci death was the precursor to the holocaust.
Grateful to Lauren Edwards for reintroducing the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, having been successful in the Private Members’ Bill ballot.

Cheaper to help us die quicker than to provide adequate care. Open your replies if you think the rest of us are grateful for this abominable bill.

The rest of the country isn’t grateful, Claire. The HoL did their jobs and you’re circumventing the law. All to give the government a cheaper option than palliative care. And no, the country doesn’t support this bill. Only old polls conducted by Dignity in Dying (the ones who poured millions into getting this done for the government) actually suggest that. A deeply dangerous bill that intends to remove safeguards in the coming years once it’s through the door is being forced AGAIN and refuses to ensure safeguarding. Anyone who gives a damn about people being able to make a decision on AD without coercion being a factor, will oppose this bill. Unfortunately, many will still back this bill because it’s the cheaper solution. They would rather let you, your loved ones suffer to the point of asking for AD rather than fund proper palliative care. That’s already coercion. It’s also cheaper to people being on benefits. In a country that let a mass disabling virus let rip - this is a cost saving bill. But we knew this was the agenda since the committee stage when we first heard them vote away safeguards for non terminal disabilities. No one needs AD for autism, Down’s syndrome, anorexia or diabetes. But that’s what they voted on. Any safeguards in place to get this bill through the door is smoke and mirrors to allow state sanctioned death via the back door. It must fail. This bill is completely unsafe for all. Even those they’re hiding this appalling bill behind. They’re using these terminally ill people to get this through. They do not care what happens with them at all.
Grateful to Lauren Edwards for reintroducing the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, having been successful in the Private Members’ Bill ballot.

Helen Whately: we need to fix the broken benefit system because Labour aren't doing it People in her comments: what did you do in 14 years in office about this? Helen Whately: err we.... built the current system, but yes it's all Labour's fault.

Genuinely wondering if we can collectively sue Helen Whately for deliberate misinformation at this point. We are paying her £100k salary, her £39k a year rent and all her expenses for you to lie about disabled people daily. Enough. She needs ousting from office asap
Over 4 million people are now claiming PIP. That’s doubled since the pandemic. Our current system gets the incentives wrong – handing out cash to stay home, whilst failing to give disabled people the help they need. Conservatives will change this and get Britain working again.

All of us want to live well, but the government is making that harder for Disabled people with lifelong conditions like blindness, or being an amputee. Every few years we must prove we're still Disabled, and need accessibility support. It’s stressful, and pointless.
Pointless! Z2K Expert by Experience and Campaigner, Steve Mikellides, spoke to The Guardian about the impact of PIP reassessments and our new research into the DWP's ridiculously wasteful process. theguardian.com/politics/202…

If suicide prevention does not include food, housing and treating ppl with dignity- it's not suicide prevention for everyone.
Parliament is once again debating whether to expand MAID further to also include mental illness.  But what happened to suicide prevention? Are people with disabilities not entitled to the same suicide prevention as everyone else?

Labour MPs telling on themselves at how thrilled they are they’ll soon be able to push vulnerable and disabled people to their deaths. Not to mention, they support a colleague who “joked” about her assaulting a homeless man& uses ableist slurs to demean disabled people 🤦🏼‍♀️
Really pleased that my colleague Lauren Edwards is reintroducing the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. Terminally ill people deserve to have choice at the end of life, and I’m so pleased that Parliament will now have the ability to make a final decision on this Bill.

Environment Secretary Emma Reynolds has just blocked a deal letting Thames Water dump sewage illegally until 2030. We were on BBC News this morning to explain what this means. We don't want US hedge funds and Trump mega-donors playing fast and loose with the water supply for 16 million people. 107 MPs have signed our MPs’ letter asking Ofwat to drop the deal and take Thames Water into Special Administration. Has your MP signed the letter? vist.ly/57wgf

Dignity in Dying still not acknowledging the dangers of this bill. Why? They’ve spent millions trying to get this across the finish line for the government. The connections BTS are disturbing. More to come on that. This is not about helping terminally ill people at all. It’s about the government quietly trying to get out of funding proper palliative care for those suffering because killing them is far cheaper. No AD bill ever needs to vote away safeguards for non terminal disabilities but this one did and Dignity in Dying are more than aware this is the case. They all said are fully complicit in trying to kill off some disabled benefit claimants to save the government some money. If they actually cared about terminally ill people at all, they would FIRST advocate for proper palliative care. But they aren’t. You all need to start asking yourselves why and be more aware. You can read more in the link to a post from me on this including the votes for removing safeguards for non terminal disabilities. x.com/talkthattalk_k/status/…

"There are a lot of people living in very fearful, very difficult situations…who are just wanting us as politicians to do our job and follow through on the legislation that has been supported already. I think there's an obligation for us to do it." Thank you Lauren Edwards MP - for standing with dying people and taking forward the fight for dignity and choice.
