A reminder that the USAID shutdown was a gross violation of the Constitution, and was permitted by the Supreme Court on the shadow docket for no valid reason at all (literally almost no serious scholars think POTUS can shut down a program funded by Congress).

honestly, the funniest thing about this entire thing is that much of the most visible elements of the Civil Rights Movement relied on racist Southern white people losing their shit. They didn't have to! They didn't have to bomb churches or buses or arrest anyone or shoot anyone to death in their driveway! But they just couldn't help themselves. Sad!

i think a solution to the historical accuracy problem for the odyssey would be to set it in the 1930s in the south and change their outfits to something like prison uniforms, and maybe cast someone like george clooney instead of matt damon
