I'd heard terrible things about @virginmedia customer service, but honestly - I never thought it could be quite as bad as I've experienced today. Seriously, how does a business that operates like this actually survive?

Looking for good news in the New Year we should look to the amazing progress in scientific research. This is still my favourite example ⁦@RestIsPolitics

Cancelling HS2 Phase 2a and 2b will have had a dramatic impact on the freight businesses and their plans. Any plans for infill electrification? Any thoughts on Britain’s largest freight operator selling a fleet of electric locomotives - sort of at odds with the idea of growth!

Big thanks to all my friends and family who have been sympathetic to my medical requirement for a #glutenfree diet because of #coeliacdisease. If you think a gf diet is a fad/trivial for people with this condition, please read the @coeliac_uk letter below and be better informed!
Today on ITV's @thismorning , coeliac disease was discussed during a phone in segment on the show. We are deeply concerned about the content and advice given to a caller attending a Christmas family event where all of the food will be gluten free to protect the health of a person with coeliac disease. We are actively following up with @ITV . You can read our open letter in the comments below, and will share any responses we receive. In the meantime we ask you to contact This Morning to ask them to give an apology to our gluten free community on air for this damaging and inaccurate information, and to engage with Coeliac UK to ensure their information is accurate in future.

Educating myself some more about #GPT using a @LI_learning course. Favourite phrase so far: 'normalising mediocrity' to describe one of its weaknesses in generating text

I look forward to them explaining how China is quite within it's rights to breach the Hong Kong transfer agreement And the EU shouldn't feel bound to meet it's treaty obligations to the UK

Outright lies by @Mark_J_Harper @transportgovuk - this funding was announced already as part of the “Restoring Your Railways” scheme. This is nothing to do with HS2 (borrowed, non-existent) funding. Stop this endless lying. It’s deceitful and boring.
I met with @simonjamesjupp in #Cullompton to see one of the projects now possible due to redirected HS2 funding. Simon has been the most effective champion for Cullompton station, making the case directly with Ministers, and is a fantastic champion for local communities 👇

It's the deep local knowledge and the attention to detail that really convinces you that it'll all be definitely happening. 🤡🤡🤡🤡
Also - exciting news that this money will help bring the Metrolink to Manchester Airport (which already has a tram stop and has done since 2014)....
