This mechanism suppresses G4 structures and thereby prevents G4-replisome collisions to maintain genome integrity. While here the RNA is supplied in trans, part of this mechanism could also remove G-loops during transcription. Why are incisions and re-synthesis required? 6/7

We envision that the replacement of the displaced strand opposite the G4 ensures genome fidelity because this strand is vulnerable to damage and deamination. Alternatively, it could regulate the epigenetic state at promotors. More to be learnt in future studies! 7/7
