Inflammaging and Sarcopenia as Interconnected Hallmarks of Aging: Integrative Roles of Bioactive Compounds and Lifestyle Interventions ▶️ Age-related functional decline is increasingly linked to chronic low-grade inflammation (inflammaging) & sarcopenia, two interconnected processes contributing to frailty, metabolic dysregulation, & impaired physical function. ✅️ Natural bioactive compounds & lifestyle-based interventions represent promising approaches for targeting biological processes implicated in inflammaging & sarcopenia. ✅️ This review highlights the importance of adaptive redox regulation, metabolic resilience, & evidence-based lifestyle strategies in healthy aging. mdpi.com/2072-6643/18/12/192… @HealthyFellow @DHPSP Conceptual schematic framework illustrating hypothesized and partially evidence-supported interactions among lifestyle interventions, bioactive compounds, molecular signaling pathways, & functional outcomes in healthy aging. The figure is intended for conceptual interpretation & does not imply direct causal relationships for all depicted interactions.

Moving beyond single-disease approaches, integrating multiomics biomarkers and life-course perspectives could enable earlier, more precise prevention and treatment strategies for cardiometabolic multiple long-term conditions. New research in @TheLancet reveals that conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, and fatty liver disease don't develop in isolation - they're driven by shared biological mechanisms including insulin resistance, chronic #inflammation, and ectopic fat deposition. The study highlights how social determinants of #health, early-life nutrition, air pollution, and even endocrine-disrupting chemicals #interact with genetic susceptibility to accelerate disease clustering. thelancet.com/action/showPdf…

Nearly 1.2 billion people - that’s roughly 1 in 7 - struggled with a #mental disorder in 2023. And a new study reveals a staggering 95.5% rise since 1990. The biggest jumps? #Anxiety and #depression, which were also the most common disorders worldwide. thelancet.com/journals/lance…

After having consulted the #DRC and #Uganda where the #Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus is known to be currently occurring, I determine that the epidemic constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), as defined in the provisions of IHR. The history of race-based correction of lung-capacity measures can be traced to a pre–Civil War belief among slave owners that slaves had naturally inferior lung capacity. Despite work to show that race-corrected spirometers mask lung-disease severity in Black patients, the majority of U.S. hospitals still use them. Depression may be contagious - here’s the science behind it. We often think of #depression as a purely internal struggle. But a compelling body of research suggests otherwise: depression can spread through social networks, much like an infectious disease. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Whether you're #walking, swimming 🏊🏽‍♂️ , or lifting weights 🏋️‍♀️ , the protective #PhysicalActivity payoff comes from making movement a lifelong habit, not a occasional burst. Small steps, sustained over decades, add up to major #health gains. New research in @NatureComms followed 231,000 people for 32 years and found that consistency matters as much as volume when it comes to #physicalactivity and chronic disease prevention. People who steadily met the recommended 7.5 MET-hours/week had lower risk of #NCD noncommunicable diseases such as #diabetes, heart disease, and #cancer - even compared to those who exercised intensely but sporadically. Staying #active through middle adulthood (ages 40–60) was linked to 10–28% lower disease risk after 60. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

That line looks awfully vertical.
US measles cases this year already exceed the total for the whole of 2023 and 2024 combined, and it is only January. Yikes.
