🌳 Trees can cool cities down: but not all trees, and not everywhere, equally. A global study across 110 cities shows cooling depends on 🌡️ climate, 🏙️ urban layout & 🌳 species. Some lower temperatures by 12 °C! 👉 ow.ly/E3B950Y7ypV #NatureBasedSolutions #BeatTheHeat

Trees have a cooling effect, this is quite easy to understand. But their effect is considerble, especially in summer's heat waves: they can reduce the cities' surface temperature in the summer by up to 12°C [📹 Ecosia]

"We are losing biodiversity at a rate unparalleled in human history." Global wildlife populations have sunk over 60% since 1970. We are destroying ourselves and taking nature with us. Time to protect people and the planet. #ActOnClimate #climate #biodiversity #nature

The world has warmed by around 1.4C since 1850. It took 148 years for the first half of that warming to occur, and just 27 years for the second half!

France is heading towards its second heatwave... BEFORE the summer solstice! 🔥🌡️🥵 It’s just nightmarish, morbid, and foreshadows how difficult life will be in the 21st century. 😰 I’m thinking of the ecosystems that can’t take it anymore... 🌲✝️ Map via @Kevin_Fillin

While @AsmRansom and @SenMcNerney are working hard in Sacramento to secure state support for the new School of Medicine at @UOPacific, @RepJoshHarder is battling in Washington for federal support of what will be the only MD-granting institution north of LA and south of the Bay Area and Greater Sacramento. We applaud our elected leaders working to address physician shortages across the #centralvalley. #MedicalEducation #PacificSchoolofMedicine

Why do we age? Evolution may hold the answer. Because natural selection weakens later in life, genes that boost early survival and reproduction can persist even if they contribute to aging and disease decades later. New advances in genetics and multi-omics are helping uncover why lifespan varies so dramatically across species—and how we might extend healthspan. #Aging #Longevity #Genetics nature.com/articles/s41576-0…

I use the words physical hygiene and emotional hygiene. We should pay equally important attention to the hygiene of our emotions. Physical hygiene keeps us physically fit — but full of anger, what use is that? Real hygiene is emotional: peaceful, compassionate emotion. That is the real inner hygiene.
