That’s almost certainly the result of a contract with the teachers’ union . . . which would have been collectively bargained for and approved by the union members.
I am trying to help a mentee navigate a potential job offer as a first year teacher and they sent me the salary scale. I know it’s early on the east coast, but am I seeing in the “Class I” column that the salary literally only increases a dollar a year for the first THREE years?

A shockingly embarrassing tweet from a Harvard law grad . . .
I have not yet read the full trial transcript. But so far, I do know this. Karmelo Anthony was entitled to a jury of his peers. He did not get that. On that ground alone, he is entitled to a new trial. Minorities are not interchangeable. The prosecutor’s reported proffered reasons for striking all black jurors —that they were teachers—appears to be pretext. Anthony needs a new lawyer on appeal and in a new trial. His trial lawyer allowed in opinion evidence that should have been struck. He also seemed unable to appreciate and counter the impact of racial overtones in that case. Those overtones are clear even on Twitter commentary as folks seek to paint Metcalf as having no culpability in what happened and Karmelo as a complete monster. The facts on how the matter escalated are more complicated than that. He and they had no such authority. They are also apparent in the statements that seek to deputize Metcalf and other kids with authority to remove Anthony. They had none and initiated the conflict. That does not mean they should have been killed but it means they have explaining to do. The lawyer for Anthony apparently did not require that explaining. It is fair to ask how the Anthony’s ended up selecting that lawyer. The trial judge must be disqualified in any new trial if he actually gave an interview about the case before the appeal was considered. He has negatively affected the appeal rights of the defendant. He should know better. He should also be disqualified if he has any relationship with the Metcalf side. In a criminal trial, the prosecution has the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The defendant does not have to prove he is not guilty. Those rules apply to everyone. They apply to Anthony.
Community note
Jury of one's peers does not mean jurors must be the same race as the defendant. No Black jurors were selected after the judge accepted prosecutors' reason for striking them they were educators and denied the defense challenge. fox4news.com/news/karmelo-a… cbsnews.com/texas/news/jur… dallasnews.com/news/courts/ar…

Everyone keeps asking who I’m backing for Governor. Let’s stop playing nice and lay the cards on the table. First off, I am NOT voting for Byron Donalds in the primary. 🛑 Look, I know he’s been in Florida for a while now, but the guy still can’t even swim. If a stiff gulf breeze puts you in the danger zone, you aren't ready to run the Sunshine State. We don’t need a New York transplant using Tallahassee as a glorified airport lounge for his D.C. career. Hard pass. Right now, my money is on Jay Collins. The guy is a literal Green Beret combat vet. He’s taken real hits for this country and still stands tall. That’s the exact brand of grit we need to keep Florida free. But we need to talk about the absolute toddlers in the back row. I see too many "conservatives" crying that they’ll sit on their hands in November if their specific, hand-picked candidate doesn’t win the primary. Grow up. Ron DeSantis didn’t trade punches with the entire media and corporate establishment for eight years just for us to hand the keys to a Democrat because somebody got their feelings hurt. If Donalds wins the primary? Yes, I’ll reluctantly vote for him. Why? Because keeping a liberal out of the governor’s mansion is infinitely more important than my personal beef. Fight like hell for your guy in the primary. But come November, we show up, we vote, and we win. No excuses, no whining. 👍

For all the libtards bitching about @elonmusk and his new status as a trillionaire, we're mocking you because you are so incredibly out of touch with the real world. Elon has sold more electric cars than all other car companies combined, employs thousands of people, has just turned 4000 of those working class folks into millionaires, and is taking humanity to Mars. Now ask yourself . . . what the fuck have you accomplished to better society?

Dear Senator Cornyn, I approached you respectfully at the airport, extending my hand & introducing myself. We were at the ticket gate with literally dozens of witnesses — passengers inches away. Despite a quib reply back from you, I kept things professional & focused on the SAVE America Act. While I respect that you say you want to ensure wins this November, I speak for millions when I say that voters will be more likely to vote upon the passage of the SAVE America Act. Voters see what’s happening in California & wonder why our Senate isn’t doing everything in its power to secure our elections. Did you know that former Congresswoman Michelle Steel (R-CA) lost by 653 votes in 2024? Did you know that former Congressman John Duarte (R-CA) lost by 187 votes? I have no doubt that the SAVE America Act would have prevented these losses. Why are we normalizing an expectation for California to count votes for weeks after Election Day — like Spencer Pratt’s election. In North Carolina, the State Board of Elections found 34,000 dead voters on the voter rolls — fact-check me. (CC: Senator Tillis) How can Americans have confidence in our elections & how are Americans going to be inspired to vote if you don’t legislate as the majority? Last — & I mean this with the utmost of respect — for the $150 million that was spent on the Texas Senate primary/runoff, we could have built massive voter registration/get out the vote operations in every single swing state. While I understand it might be difficult to contemplate an American citizen doing this work because it’s the right thing to do, I’m proud to say that I don’t take PAC $ — not even from my own organization. I can’t be bought, which frustrates the political establishment. My one singular mission is doing right by the American people and delivering legislative wins that the popular vote delivered in 2024. I’m on the way to the Texas GOP Convention to help ensure all of our Republican candidates win this November — I hope you’ll do the same. I hope you’ll do the right thing & encourage your colleagues to pass the SAVE America Act — let’s win big.

Is there some new fashion trend in automotive world that I missed? Why am I all of a sudden seeing bright orange cars everywhere? I’ve seen at least six so far this week—all different makes and models.

The founding of Tallahassee In June 1823, Florida’s territorial council authorized Governor William P. Duval to select the site for the fledging territory’s capital. Two commissioners, one traveling from St. Augustine and one from Pensacola, met at the confluence of the St. Marks and Wakulla rivers. They trekked 20 miles north, arriving at a Native American settlement they deemed a suitable location. The territorial government approved the site and adopted the Muscogee name of “Tallahassee” for the new capital city. More information: markers.flheritage.com/home/…

Only a liberal journalist (redundant, I know) would think that you could tell off your boss in a staff meeting and not get fired. 🤦‍♂️
Former CBS correspondent Scott Pelley says he did not expect to be fired after his confrontation with new management. "Oh gosh, furthest thing from my mind. It hadn’t occurred to me...I just didn’t connect the dots." From NYT: nytimes.com/2026/06/07/magaz…
