Ok but the senior WH official told me that this was always the case. Iran would see no economic relief without demonstrating that X number of ships are moving safely and freely without danger.
A leaked draft of the U.S.-Iran peace deal portrayed Washington as overly lenient toward Tehran, reportedly sending Trump into a fury. He immediately ordered his team to shut down the "weak deal" narrative and made clear that Iran would not see a dollar before taking concrete steps.

As the pressure and optimism of a deal from the US side grows, the Iranians- who do not want a deal- know that the odds of another military operation also goes up.
Tehran has collapsed tunnels, sealed entrances, and planted explosives around stockpiles of near weapons-grade enriched uranium even as negotiators claim a deal is close.

And I am willing to believe that yes there are some Iranians who are able to make rational choices that help the country survive, but they aren't the ones shooting in the Strait, the IRGC is doing that. And they don't want a deal; they want a revolution.

This was an exceptional strike carried out by our men and women in uniform. We are safer today because of the elimination of one of the world’s worst narcoterrorists.
Earlier this week, the @DeptofWar — in full collaboration with Venezuelan security forces — conducted a kinetic strike on a Tren de Aragua (TdA) compound in Venezuela. TdA founder & leader Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, aka “Niño Guerrero,” was confirmed killed during the strike.
The operation underscores the shared U.S. and Venezuelan commitment to take the fight to narco-terrorists and deny them any safe haven in our hemisphere. We will continue to work closely with security partners, like Venezuela — and counties in the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition (A3C) partners — to take the fight to our enemies.
