California is one of the best examples of Elections having consequences.
💥NEW: CNN’s Fareed Zakaria *DELIVERS BRUTAL TAKEDOWN* of California’s “FAILING MODEL OF GOVERNANCE”💥 “The frustration is real and JUSTIFIED… it is a case study in how a rich society can spend more and more — while producing less and less of what its ordinary citizens need.”

Has no effect on the climate. "Vehicle Miles Traveled" (VMT) limits have deprived an ENTIRE GENERATION of the opportunity to buy a new home with a backyard for the kids and a driveway for the basketball hoop. Once more for the slow reading group: has no effect on the climate.
Building California's 1.8M needed homes in walkable, low-VMT neighborhoods could cut statewide driving 4.5% and avoid 8 million tons of climate pollution annually by 2033. Housing location is climate policy. cayimby.org/blog/did-someone…

Catherine Lew is Barbara Lee’s puppet master. For decades, Lew and her firm The Lew Edwards Group have quietly engineered nearly $50 BILLION in new taxes across California, using a two-phase scam: First, they get cities to pay them with taxpayer money to run “educational” campaigns that scare residents into believing their fire stations, libraries, and schools will collapse without new taxes. Then they seamlessly transition into running the union-funded “Yes” campaigns that actually pass the measures. Her firm’s own strategy memos openly advise threatening to close fire stations and slash library hours if voters don’t approve the tax. And when one of her clients got caught sending ILLEGAL campaign mailers with public funds, the state hit them with an FPPC violation that directly named Lew’s firm. Lew has trained the very politicians who later hire her, creating a closed-loop machine that keeps extracting more money from working people while she pulls the strings behind the scenes. Barbara Lee has been part of that machine for years. This is the corrupt system running Oakland.

Perhaps the most shocking thing in LA, besides the naked addicts abusing dogs and shitting in the street...is just how much of a ghost town the city is now. The place is DEAD. It's eerie. Of course, LA Times supports every candidate who's at fault for it, and after relentlessly attacking the only candidate who had the support of the developers and entrepreneurs who could potentially revive the city, the death spiral is only going to accelerate. Dark times ahead. latimes.com/business/story/2…

“Elon Musk got rich by trading stocks” is in the top three of the stupidest things ever uttered on this site…but only in the top 20 of things uttered by US Senators…just since yesterday.
Elon Musk just became the world's first trillionaire. While working people struggle to get by, the billionaire class is becoming the TRILLIONAIRE class. It's disgusting. I'm fighting to tax the rich so we stop rewarding trading stocks over punching clocks.

If it means anything, Harry Markopolos proved Bernie Madoff’s returns were statistically impossible. The SEC spent more than a decade ignoring him and didn’t act until after the fraud collapsed and investors lost over $40 billion. Los Angeles might discover that mathematical reality is a lot easier to identify than it is to persuade politicians to accept.
💥NEW: @chamath on LA Mayor Election: “I’m for mathematical and statistical literacy. And what happened here is mathematically and statistically IMPOSSIBLE … I can tell you the statistical odds that this would have happened — and it’s one in a trillion!”

Choosing whom to vote for this November should be easy. The choice is primarily between those who celebrate Elon Musk’s successes and those whose first instinct is to confiscate what he’s built.

This brings to mind the dynamic John Stuart Mill described when he wrote, “If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.” @elonmusk is like a guy on payday walking past a gaggle of thugs who just watched him cash his check. It would be no less of a robbery if the people who run his pockets wear suits and serve in Congress.
A 5% tax on Elon’s net worth would fund every community health center in America for the next 26 years. I’ll say it again. Tax the rich.
