This remarkable outcome made possible by: 1- Hydraulic fracturing 2- Horizontal drilling 3- Gut instinct and good geology 4- Huge risk tolerance of US shale producers and backers....
What a remarkable outcome: the world's largest ever oil supply disruption failed to create a major energy crisis. The IEA said 2026 shock was worst than 1973, 1979 and 2022 together. And yet, the cost of oil, natural gas, electricity and coal never surpassed the previous peaks.

So much of the US political system functions as a protection racket “Billionaires - pay us a protection fee or we will agitate our constituency of retarded peasants to take all your wealth!! It’s the same thing with data centers and basically everything else productive people in society try to build “Give us political donations NOW - otherwise we convince the proles you’re like, draining the oceans or something! We’ll tell them you’re drinking the oceans lol! They’ll believe us too, they’re CRAZY dumb man” Everyone who creates everything just gets shaken down by mobs of weaponized retards
Elon Musk just became the world's first trillionaire. The typical American household would have to work more than 11 MILLION years to make Elon Musk's level of wealth. We need a wealth tax.

Dario (48 hours ago): “US gov should be able to block model deployment” USG: *export controls models* Dario: “not like that”
The Trump administration has placed Anthropic's Mythos 5 and Fable 5 under export controls. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick sent a letter to Dario Amodei tonight stating that foreign governments, companies, and individuals will no longer have access to either model.

I am filled with optimism at the fact that the world's first trillionaire was made not by hedge funds or market manipulation, but by building the infrastructure to take America to the stars.
Feels very epochal.

People with nothing at stake love giving stupid fucking advice like this because they feel insecure encountering someone who doesn't swelter in the same homogenized pig pen mud pit lifestyle they do. Compartmentalization is good. Masks are good. Civilizations fall apart when you let go. You don't separate friend groups because you're a walking Hallmark movie character that's afraid to get loose, you do it because they usually are two wildly different groups of people with different incentives, personalities, and social structures. You split the carrots and the peas when you need to because sometimes one group can completely fuck the dynamic of the other. You develop a mode for different groups because it's good to variate different perspectives and invigorate the consciousness a little. You open and close up in varying degrees because some people shouldn't get all of you and some people should. You wear the fucking masks because you want to be better for the people around you who aren't your inner circle. If you think you need to full blast every personal element of your existence, down to your kitschy little tattoos, shitty taste in music, and meticulously poeticized mental illness, then you SUCK! You fucking SUCK!! You are the 900 decibel speakerphone conversation on the back of the bus, the glaring violation of tact and discretion that ruins the world through a steady incremental entropy of exhaustion. The only reason someone would assume that their delicate inner world is something to be painted on themselves like a billboard of candid vulnerability is because they have nothing at stake. They have no social relationships they need to manage because their friendgroup is an inconsequential hodgepodge of millabouts and consumers. They have no incongruities to consider because their breadth of thought, taste, and experience is so blatantly narrow they can't even comprehend why anyone would ever disagree about anything. They have no secrets to keep because they are dull loudmouth gossips who squander the social currency the moment it's granted to them, cheapening their surrounding world and walling them off from any level of power or influence. They feel no distortion when incompatible vibrations collide because they lack a sentient level of emotional palate, doomed to forever pile everything in their life into an incoherent sludge. They balk at discretion, tact, or guile because they literally cannot carry any level of complication in their minds while dedicating mental RAM to remembering where they parked or what their favorite color is. Do not mistake this as the screed of a Machiavellian apologist, nor assume that the "genuine" purity spiraler is somehow innocent. It's typically the ones demanding your vulnerability, open mindedness, and tolerance that are often the most conniving snakes. Their "face" is just the crackling paint on the biggest mask of all: Delusion. I'm not saying you need to be a taskmaster weaving webs and building dollhouses for the people in your life. That kind of organizing and compartmentalizing is already done automatically and naturally by a well adjusted human mind. If at any point you feel like you're a "master manipulator" you're overdoing it or just larping to yourself. All I'm saying is that compartmentalizing is good and natural. It's inherent to the human condition and it has been ever since we grew beyond the scattered tribe. Maybe you could make a case for saying that growing beyond the archetypal tribe unit is an unnatural way of life. I could also make the case that if I had to pick between being a whole-minded oneness tribal or being the compartmentalized city-staters on horses who enslave the entire tribe with nets and spears, I know which side I'd want to be on. You can carry contradictory feelings and incentives together without having a stroke. You can understand the underlying fabric of reality as being an ecosystem where all participants become units of value to be consumed, exchanged, and collected while still being able to tap into your emotions and appreciate your friends, love your family, and treat your peers with kindred respect. You don't need to give up on keeping a delicate balance together just because it takes a tiny bit of consideration and effort. The only time anything deliberate is "toxic" is when you actually can't handle the process it demands. That's not an invalidation of the benefit, it's just a signal for what level you're willing to handle. Some people are meant to live smaller lives, think less thoughts, and spend less energy going about their day. The only problem is when those types of people have just enough awareness to realize they're deficient and they catalyze their own incapability into a projection of trauma onto normal people who can simply function better than them. Do you want to know what a world looks like when you let go of ego, consideration, mental barriers, and hesitations? Go hang out with festival heads. Burn yourself out a little on acid, molly, shrooms. Smoke a lot of weed. See what it's like when an entire subculture self-assembles its own environment optimized against any of the Apollonian logistical impositions that would disrupt pure emotional bliss, pleasure, and euphoria. If you happen to survive and hold onto just enough cognizance, you can observe that such an environment converges onto a sort of baby society, where all sensory experiences are reduced to soft edges and comforting noises. Visuals become a pukefest of technicolor scattering, void of any consideration for emptiness, silence, or absence to give meaning to the presence. Topics are always vapid, incomprehensible, or trite. You can never carry an opinion with strength or force, this transgresses a non-aggression pact implicitly drafted by a people who would classify being reminded of the concept of time as a form of aggression. You can never keep something to yourself, tend towards the dignity of solitude, or be allowed to explore a silent melancholy. You must always be pulled back into warmth, light, and shallow laughter because the state of your own personal existence impinges on others when they are so sensitive to how they perceive your presence. Experiencing these zones of degraded consciousness is psychologically enlightening. They highlight the particular consequences that occur when you forgo the natural instincts you have while also reminding you why civilization built the standards, rules, and etiquette it did. While someone of a higher frequency can temporarily lower themselves to empathize with a reduced state of existence, the inverse cannot occur. These types of people have never climbed to a level of power where they have to see the consequences of intermingled hierarchy. They've never gained enough influence to know what kind of shift occurs when your reputation becomes scrutinized by an audience of any kind. They've never made enough money, taken any risk, or had any kind of responsibility that elevates to a point where seemingly minor moments of carelessness could put them in prison, ruin them financially, destroy their relationships, or even get them killed. And despite what derision some naysayers may project onto me, whether you've reached that point in your life or not doesn't invalidate that the more you grow in life, the more consequences there are to mishandling yourself and your life. The wealthiest, the most influential, the most powerful, the most successful, and the greatest figures in history are all distinguished by their ability to communicate, connect, and unify people around them. Our ability to cooperate with each other is the big difference between us being the most dominant species on earth and simply being chimpanzees who may have figured out how to use a rock to bash open a coconut. Your social network is as crucial to your life as your finances, your diet, and your sleep. It decides what kind of job you get, what kind of husband or wife and therefore children you get to have, what kind of person you become. Your friends, your coworkers, your acquaintances, your peers, your family, and your tribe is everything. How you approach that isn't something that should be shotgunned carelessly like a drunken game of darts. The people who truly don't give a fuck about this sort of thing love to espouse being a leaf floating in the river of life. Yet they end up hanging out with the same mediocre miscreants and yapping nobodies. The extent of their friendships are a distraction of expenditure and mindless consumption, at best. At worst, their friends are drugged out black holes robbing them of potential opportunities and introducing gateways of prison time and getting manslaughtered onto the curb of a parking lot by accident because you got dragged into a fight one of your buddies started. These people will experience drama that was handleable and entirely preventable because they just sat back and "let life happen" without taking any fucking initiative or having an ounce of tact. They'll watch friends since elementary school walk out of their lives and go "Oh well nothing I could've done." They'll fuck each others boyfriends and girlfriends and get in stupid fights, destroying access to entire social scenes over politics or tolerating behavioral transgressions they're too stupid to even realize as offensive. These are barnyard animals, parasites, toxic waste corroding the fabric of their own existence and those around because they're either too stupid or too lazy to take control and really see how far they can go. They'll smugly chastise you for making an effort, holding onto context, and considering anything at all because they're incapable of any level of empathy themselves. They'll do so safely from the comfort of the civilization built by people who did put their lives in boxes and wear masks over masks. Do not ever let these people convince you that the way human beings have operated for thousands of years is somehow wrong. Do not give in to the cosmic suicide becoming a suppliant grub in the maggot pile just because it feels easier. Never forget the circle, the faction, and the hierarchy.
Compartmentalizing your friends (like not being able to mix friend groups) is a sign that you’ve set your life up in a way where it’s mandatory to wear masks and you’re living in third person pov caring way too much about how you’re being perceived

I feel like if you started telling people that it's Jeffrey Epstein on the $20 somewhere between, conservatively, 10 to 30% of people would simply believe it, and at least 2% would have a severe emotional reaction to the information.

Why do you lick ice cream we do not do that in Germany
I don’t know how it became normal and socially acceptable for grown people to walk about in groups with their tongues hanging out licking ice cream cones. What a bizarrely childish and somehow also bovine public activity.

Actually it is entitlement to mix all of your social groups constantly and assume they should just all pretend to get along for your sake.

This is pretty crazy ("Project status" under the abstract is also an insane detail). Further shrinking of V4 cache footprint to… 360 MB per 1M context? 360 *bytes* per token? Just 2 OOMs from the raw plaintext limit? Calling CSA «conventional» is crazy work lmao. @antirez !!
DeepSeek-V4 now runs 500K context with 90% less KV cache FlashMemory introduces Lookahead Sparse Attention: a tiny Neural Memory Indexer predicts which chunks your next tokens will need, keeping only 13.5% of cache in GPU memory—with zero backbone retraining and better accuracy.

It'll take a while for people to understand how absurdly good this is. we're looking at 710 m^2 or panels radiators, 120 kW power at 100% capacity factor, and likely ≈2kg per m^2, 12 kg/kW. On Earth, that's at least *270* kg of panels, plus batteries, plus support.

The AI satellite is essentially a lot of solar cells, you still need some laser links, but you don't have all of the super complex antennas that you have on a Starlink satellite. The easier one to design for is the AI satellite. It's bigger. A lot of this is technology we've already made with the Starlink V3 satellites."

Lexar’s regional manager for Australia and New Zealand, Chris Xia, says RAM prices could double by the end of the year. According to Xia, today’s “discounts” and stable prices result mostly from distributors clearing old stock or sourcing products from other regions. He warned that current prices do not reflect where the market is heading. Major memory manufacturers are focusing more production on AI and data center memory, leaving less capacity for consumer DDR4 and DDR5 modules. If you’re planning to build or upgrade a PC soon, buying RAM sooner rather than later may not be a bad idea
