The City Council has had six days to take action and pass Ryder’s Law, yet they haven’t said a word.
The question is are they refusing to take action to make people safer, to stop the inhumane treatment of animals, or both?
Horse-drawn carriages have been an iconic fixture of Central Park for generations. But tradition alone can’t justify the risks they pose to both the horses and the people around them.
It’s time for change. Here's how we're taking action while working to support drivers:

“Many horses are suffering from severe hoof issues, including “caudal heel pain” and a “forward displaced hoof capsule,” conditions that cause immense pain improper posture….particularly for horses that pound streets for up to 10 hrs a day.” onegreenplanet.org/animals/h…
Over the past 15 years, @nytopinion has published editorials in support of NYC's horse-drawn carriage trade. In light of the evidence demonstrating that their operation in NYC is inhumane and unsafe, will the opinion page editors reconsider the paper's perspective on the issue?
Note to the editors: The @NYCCouncil would have assuredly passed the bill to ban horse-drawn carriages by now if the Transport Workers Union, which represents the owners (not the workers), wasn't pressuring city lawmakers to vote against it.
If elected officials prioritized public service ahead of political expedience, this #AnimalCruelty would have ended two decades ago.

This is the most important animal welfare investigation in history. I'll say more about that in a podcast with @AnimalRising's Rose Patterson that will be published next Tuesday!
🚨BREAKING: Biggest scandal in RSPCA history!

We have investigated over 40 RSPCA Assured farms in the last few months. We have seen thousands of animals living in overcrowded and filthy sheds, living and dying in pain from lack of care.
The RSPCA is failing to protect millions of animals stuck in farms nationwide. They talk of 'improving the lives of farmed animals', but place their seal of approval on farms and practices which go against every standard they claim to endorse.
