Mark and I overlapped in the Rubin lab - his bench faced mine. He was funny and knew so many different things. He made the lab a richer and more meaningful place. I am so sorry for his passing....
This is shocking news. So very sad. Sincerest condolences to Debbie.
So proud of my former PhD student Xin Li. This award recognizes her extraordinary talent

In case you missed the eLife preprint, our formatted paper is now out in eLife (elifesciences.org/articles/7…). It describes how a mechanochemical process generates the regular lattice pattern of photoreceptor neuron clusters in the fly eye.

This biographical article came out five years ago about a hero of mine - Nancy Hopkins. I knew her when I was a student at MIT, and she applied her singular wit and grace to right injustices back then as she continues doing so now. technologyreview.com/2017/08…

Our paper is now out in eLife - topic? A mechanochemical process that generates the regular triangular grid of photoreceptor clusters in the compound eye. It reinforces for me the importance of imaging the dynamics of a system as it lives.
