#Karnataka & #Bengaluru is blessed to have a dynamic IAS officer & Present #BDA Commissioner Sri P. Manivannan @Captain_Mani72 sir (IAS, 1998 batch) , who had initiated major citizen-centric reforms at BDA between June 2025 and June 2026. 🔹 A Citizen Assistance Cell and Open House Meetings improved grievance redressal, with about 67% of complaints resolved. 🔹 Long-pending land and property issues were expedited, including resolution of a 26-year-old sale deed case. 🔹 BDA prioritised vertical housing, planned urban development, and improved amenities in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL). 🔹 Enforcement against building bylaw violations was strengthened while transparency and public engagement were enhanced through direct citizen interactions. 🔹 BDA actively supported key Bengaluru infrastructure projects, including the PRR, Hebbal corridor improvements, and airport connectivity initiatives. Congratulations sir , on successfully completing one year as BDA Commissioner. Wishing you many more years of impactful leadership and service. 🎉👏

I visited the southernmost tip of India. I stood at Indira Point. I walked under trees that have stood for centuries. I dove into coral reefs among the most vibrant on earth. And I sat with the people who live there. Tribal communities, whose land is being taken away by violating the Forest Rights Act. Settlers, many of them former soldiers, placed on these islands by the Indian government, who aren’t getting fair compensation. The Modi government and BJP tells you Great Nicobar Project is about defence. It is not. Expand INS Baaz - we will back the government fully. The Navy has been asking for expansion for five years - it has been ignored. They tell you it is about a transhipment port. It is not. India is already building one in Kerala, which is on the mainland. What it actually is: 1.5 crore trees felled. Coral reefs erased from official maps. Soldiers and tribals displaced - so one businessman can build hotels and casinos on India’s most irreplaceable ecological land. Every young Indian I have spoken to understands this. You know that no amount of profit is worth destroying what can never be recovered. I stand for ecologically balanced development. Even a massive garbage dump can be easily cleared. All it takes is a few concerned citizens to join hands. Government participation is highly desirable and invited but ultimately optional. The city belongs to its citizens, not merely to the government. We have a right to a clean environment. We have a duty to work towards it.

The first and best step towards ‘Good Governance’ in India, is to solve the grievances of the public in a systematic & professional manner, starting from receiving the grievances properly and responding to it. This process itself will straighten out the distortions in the system and make it much better. This has been my experience in the last 27 years in the government. The landing point for an elevated road should be chosen such that there is long stretch of free movement after that point. We build elevated roads that land at signals, and then we are surprised that they are choking up the road on descent. BMLTA should be strengthened and allowed to do its job as a proper planner of mobility. The combo on Metro, GBA and others winging it is not working, because they don't have the necessary expertise.

Bengaluru is (I think) the largest city in the world that abuts a forest with wildlife - Bannerghatta connects to the North Cauvery reserve and from there to large swathes of the southern ghats. If we can live next door to the wildlife and also pay attention to their habitat, that's something to celebrate.
