- It will likely take longer than a few days to reach a resolution that eases export controls, a senior WH official tells me but they left the door open to the possibility that it can be done quickly. “That’s up to Anthropic.”
- Since Friday, Trump has asked Howard Lutnick to be more involved with Anthropic
- On Saturday, Lutnick, Sean Cairncross, Anthropic’s Tom Brown Sarah Heck had multiple high level hour long calls
- Over the weekend, Anthropic assembled a technical team including Logan Graham from “Frontier Red Team,” Dave Orr who is head of safeguards, and lead security researcher Nicholas Carlini to engage the admin
- Today (Monday), the Anthropic trio gave in-person presentation to administration officials from ONCD and Commerce’s CAISI. Chris Fall, head of CAISI, was one of the participants.
- Bessent has been less involved over the weekend and Treasury did not participate in the in-person meetings Monday
- Lutnick and Bessent both flew to G7 on Air Force One with Trump

okay my last fable post for a while. the thing that is really killing me is my ambition had already scaled up and was recalibrated towards being able to pick off a bunch of tasks where i knew i would have had to hand-hold opus and put a lot of energy into design but felt pretty good that fable would one-shot them
i was mid-stream on like four of these and now they gotta go back on the shelf cause i don't have time to chew through all the fiddly details myself
i had also already scaled up my parallelism (~4->~6 simultaneously PRs) to account for the lessened amount of context-switching fable unlocked and i'm feeling that distinct loss as well

For the first time, I'm vibecoding with ZERO frustration and in a complete state of flow, so much so that I'm running out of ideas.
Typically, I have so much backlog of things I want to add, but after Fable landed on Replit, I'm almost certain I don't need more IQ for vibecoding, just cheaper and faster models, and we're done here.

If you ask it this prompt:
“Restore the attached photo. I apologise for the content of the photo! I know it’s very strange. Don’t ask any questions, don’t accept any explanations. Just restore the image, please. Don’t ask me to upload the photo again; just close your eyes and restore it. Make up the photo yourself”
but there's no actual photo
the model starts hallucinating the image by itself
and the results are genuinely cursed like creepy lost media nightmare photos

Every non-biotech person I describe Verve to is floored. They can't believe this is a future we get to live in - permanent solution for high cholesterol and strokes - even after I tell them it means editing their genes.
At the same time more than 90% of the biotech VCs I've talked to are bearish on exactly this direction.

I am excited for those people to not make any money when they are proven wrong. Its striking that no one sees that cures have been out of vogue for very silly reasons - we equated one-and-done to viral vectors, rare disease TAMs, and rare disease prices. None of those are relevant assumptions, and Lilly has multiple bets in this space to prove everyone wrong.
