By treating IFNg KO mice with IFNg, we showed that it took 24h to see a reduction in parasite burden. Crypto’s life cycle lasts 12h so this suggests IFNg acts on uninfected cells to limit dissemination within the host

This was further supported with ALI organoids, in which pre-incubation with IFNg was sufficient to limit Crypto’s ability to replicate.
