Sharing the trailer for my new podcast, The Geopolitics of Business. I'm fascinated by the places where geopolitics coincides with business and what business leaders do when they find themselves there. Join me to hear insights, analysis and personal journeys from investors, CEOs and politicians who've made the big calls at the toughest moments at the increasingly complex interface of politics and economics. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcas…

🚨 By far most interesting interview I have done this year - with AI godfather who has just won Nobel Prize, @GeoffreyHinton ….lengthy chat about what the actual existential AI threat was, comparisons with the Manhattan Project, which jobs will last 🤖

It’s easy to underestimate the economic catastrophe of the last 16 years because it’s been gradual. But imagine we’d actually grown at 2% a year since 2008 and then lost it all at once this year: it would be a collapse of >30% Hard to overstate how radical we need to be now
Horrifying

The self-interested case for southerners to care about economic growth in the north, from @thomasforth’s excellent new post.
Can the UK go back to being the richest big country in the world? I think that we can, and that it's a perfectly reasonable goal, but that we're probably not going to do the things that would make it happen. tomforth.co.uk/richestcountr…

We can't discuss economic growth and living standards without confronting our trading relationship with Europe. Spot on by @nickclegg

Interesting further proof of the deep economic damage wrought by Brexit. Lesson for new Govt is clear: blaming the “last 14 years” may be good politics, but isn’t economically true. It was Brexit in 2016 that threw the UK economy – then fastest growing in the G8 – into reverse. So any attempt at restoring sustainable growth will have to, eventually, confront the European question…

Caring isn’t just my family's story, it is the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love. Sharing our story hasn't been easy, but it's important. It's time to bring carers' experiences into the light.

I think I will live to see the UK rejoin the EU, but it will be a while and our people will suffer economically in the meantime.

Participating in @DulwichPrep's superb initiative to foster community by inviting guests to share ideas and professional experiences with parents was an immense privilege. We live in an age in which politics often trumps economic interests, and I enjoyed sharing reflections from my time in politics and business with the school.
