There are still a few good people on here who haven't yet gone to where the sky is blue, so I keep popping back. It's nicer over there though @AndyLane27 @sweatscience @Ekkekakis @PaulTonkinson

Hello @Keir_Starmer I hope you’re having a good start to Christmas . I didn’t know who else to write to so I’m hoping you can help . Please make some calls & get this poor woman out of prison for Christmas . This doesn’t reflect well on the UK . Thanks #loveactually Please RT @DavidLammy @AngelaRayner @Ed_Miliband
🚨 BREAKING: GAIE RECALLED TO PRISON FOR CHRISTMAS Gaie Delap, a 77 year old retired teacher, has been arrested and taken to a prison in Bristol after being told her wrists were too small for an electronic tag. She had been released from prison to serve the remainder of her sentence on tag, but the company claimed they did not have one that would fit her. Gaie was initially imprisoned for breaking a law that was drafted by an oil company funded think tank - The Policy Exchange. She took action in 2022 to demand an end to new oil and gas licences. This is now government policy.

I wrote this piece for today's Guardian, on whether physical activity guidelines are 'fit' for mental health gains. Free to read on Guardian website.

Less and less engagement on here (apart from a steady flow of new followers, none of whom have a bio, nor have ever posted; many who appear scantily clad). I'm having more fun at @timeonfeet.bsky.social

I think best when I'm on my feet. My new Substack explores how movement (and sometimes, stillness) is a way of deepening our connection to the environments we move through - and knowing ourselves better. Join me as I find my feet in the Cairngorms. #ukrunchat #nature

WHY do we allow multinational-owned super trawlers to extract all the wildlife from our waters? What’s in it for us? It’s legalised ecocide. Get them out.
🚨Supertrawlers return to the channel‼️ The Afrika, a 126-metre pelagic freezer trawler, has been tracked off #Sussex over the last 24 hours. We've also been monitoring the Zeeland and Willem Van Der Zwan, which have passed through the channel.

Harebell/Scottish bluebell (Campanula rotundifolia) at Del Bog, Cairngorms. With stems and petals so delicate, it's a wonder they make it through to October... #wildflowerhour

Regarding the recent application by @NFUtweets to allow 'emergency' use of neonics on sugar beet, this image explains the problem: most of the pesticide goes into soils, leaches into waterways, & is taken up by wildflowers & hedgerows. Only 5% in crop. nature.com/articles/nature13…

Does exercise need to comply with the recommended physical activity guidelines in order to boost mental health? Or can lesser/different types of movement work? I'd love to hear from anyone whose phys. activity doesn't 'tick the boxes' but helps their mental health - for feature.

When you tell people you're moving to Scotland, they always mention the rain and the midges... not this!
