$77,509 - that's how much student debt I had until I wiped it away last week by winning @truTV's PAID OFF. The experience was surreal, not least because I benefitted from a show whose existence was born out of the student loan debt crisis. And make no mistake, it is a crisis. /1
Can’t properly explain it but whatever dark, unsettling, zeitgeisty vibes I was hoping to find with THE SOCIAL RECKONING trailer, I have instead found with the teaser for PRIMETIME. Immaculate front to back.
I was the product marketing manager for @GearsofWar 2. We did zero focus testing on the ads. The team was locked in together. Total trust in each other and in what we were making. Taste and confidence.
My wife wanted to watch a “dumb fun movie” so I showed her BURN AFTER READING. Got a notification halfway through saying Spurs were up 76-49.
Right after the movie ends I bring up the Finals game, and 3 seconds later Anunoby hits the tip-in to put the Knicks up 107-106. Crazy.
Don Draper drunkenly leaving work at noon and wandering into a Magic the Gathering tourney in a cafe, lighting a cigarette and whispering to some guy in shorts asking what’s happening.
Odyssey tickets crashing AMC.
Obsession showings still selling out three weeks in.
People complaining Backrooms is racist.
Music biopics making a billion.
Are we… are we so back?
Demand for #TheOdyssey Imax screenings was so high that AMC's ticketing app briefly paused after tickets went on sale.
Fandango also appeared to struggle, with users reporting long wait times.

Mild #Backrooms spoilers - but there’s an extended sequence where Chiwetel Ejiofor explores the rooms in almost complete silence, and while the visuals are truly hypnotic (and deeply unsettling), his acting and facial expressions sell it so goddamn well. He’s masterful in this.
honestly the thing that surprised me the most while watching backrooms was this entire row of teenage boys sitting in front of me and ofc they were talking loudly but as soon as the movie started they all locked in and sat there for 2 hours in total silence like this
Went to an end-of-semester awards luncheon for some local Media Arts students yesterday, and the thing they were all talking about?
BACKROOMS and OBSESSION.
19 and 20 year olds making plans with friends to see the Next Big Thing. In a theater.
Man this is cool to see.
If you're curious how high BACKROOMS could go this weekend: this is something like triple the showtimes it had when I looked two weeks ago. That Sat., 6:45pm PRIME showing was just added. Four seats taken thus far. It'll probably be sold out by tomorrow. This thing's a monster.
Joan, discreetly entering Roger Sterling's office: Are you aware that there is an entrance to a dimension of unending liminal space in the creative lounge?
Roger: Oh, that? Creature isn't loose, is he?
Joan, crying: Don has been in there for two weeks.
Roger: Yeah, he does that.
Wow, the student journalist who won the Mike Wallace Memorial Scholarship at the News Emmys just called out CBS News.
"While I want to thank CBS News for funding this generous gift toward my education, I want to also acknowledge how the recent direction of the outlet stains the legacy of Mike Wallace, the name sake of this scholarship." (Applause and some surprise in the room)
