Rising input costs tied to the conflict in the Middle East are adding strain to an already challenging farm economy. To better understand how global fertilizer market disruptions are affecting producers during spring planting, the American @FarmBureau Federation conducted a Fertilizer Availability Survey of farmers and ranchers across the country. It was great to discuss opportunities to improve water delivery tools through the farm bill  EPA’s water infrastructure program reauthorization with leading partners and stakeholders.

As National Ag Week comes to a close, I’m grateful to @RobyBrock for the opportunity to share my Op-Ed. At our family farm, we’re seeing neighboring farm foreclosures come across our desks every week — a sobering reminder of the challenges facing rural communities. Farmers are navigating pressure from every direction: consolidation and monopolies, rising input costs, unpredictable weather, and an increasingly complex political landscape. With Arkansas now leading the nation in farm bankruptcies, I felt compelled to speak up. Cooperatives were originally built to protect farmers in times like these. The model is still strong — but it requires leadership that is willing to evolve, innovate, and meet today’s challenges head-on. Thanks to Reap grant from @USDA we’ve started preparing dirt work for solar installation at @keofishfarms. We trust @elonmusk’s math and know it’s the right thing for our family farm to diversify AG operations and reduce cost to help us continue farming.

The math is obvious and unequivocal: ~100% of energy over time comes from the Sun. Everything else is a rounding error.
