In the last two days, we have seen two hiring posts go viral.
Yesterday, it was for Head of Growth at
@SoCapInc.
Today, it is for an Intern role at
@ThineAI.
Funnily enough, I am the only common context between these two events.
I am the one who has been hired for both roles has (partly) contributed to these engineered hiring posts.
Two years ago, I was âthe internâ at
@MerlinAIByFoyer (same team as Thine).
The role was THE best thing I could ask for straight out of IITK: high-ownership, high-growth, great learning, great team and great profit.
I learnt how to build, design, craft brand, strategize, market, code, hire and create culture.
@pratyush_r8 didnât believe in the concept of âproduct managersâ until he worked with me.
I joined at 20k/month AS a remote intern in the fourth year. I have interned for MnCs and startups for way more before. I donât see money as this medal. I had a simple requirement: âTake care of my canteen bill reimburse tools for meâ. They were generous from the get go.
I grew my money so much to being one of the highest paid young product operators in my vicinity. And I didnât even ask for it.
Sure: I sometimes wish I learned and FAFOâd earlier. I honestly believe the things I did, I could easily have done them 2 years earlier. But, hey!
I entered
@socapinc as Head of Growth at 23.
Sure, I am not a Series B founder at 16 in SF, or building VC-backed quick commerce for diapers out of HSR, but people value me for the clarity and judgement I bring to any new creative or business endeavour.
Learning from Molly Grahamâs âGive away your legosâ mantra, I took a leap of faith to do viral launches for generational SF startups.
Everyday, I learn something new. Surround myself with excellence every fucking day. I fucking love it.
So itâs odd, that a lot of people think that these hiring posts are outrageous, red-flagesque, fake, underpaying or over-expecting.
I have a simple rebuttal: apply or stop whining.
If you earn more, consider if you want to learn more. Because you will. If you donât want to: ignore.
If you think youâll do a good job, but donât fit the criteria exactly, just apply. I donât gym either.
If you think we pay less for your standards, prove it to us. Both corps have no dearth of money.
If you think we pay less for some arbitrary market standard, you canât think from first principles and I wish you luck.
If you donât earn more, consider applying.
If you think youâre too good for us, apply. Good chance youâre not.
If you apply, the conversations youâll have with these folks will be great. Maybe you get in.
If you donât know how to read, please continue commenting stupid pretentious shit on the posts. We kinda really get off on that shit.
If you were trying to ragebait us back, you have my respect. Your current thing probably sucks right now.
Go apply.
