Welcome CLEA Class #40!  The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Law Enforcement Academy has officially started!  CLEA is a 13-week academy held twice a year and allows the public to learn more about law enforcement and how the criminal justice system works. Participants meet SJSO personnel and learn about the Sheriff’s Office’s mission, operation, and policies. The academy allows the participants to gain an inside perspective of SJSO’s divisions and special teams including K9, SWAT, criminal investigations, narcotics operations, patrol, use of force and defensive tactics, etc., as well as, driving maneuvers and firearms operation at the shooting range. SJSO is ready for back to school! Over the weekend, SJSO deputies and the Public Affairs and Community Engagement team attended the Back to School Bash event on South Woodlawn in St. Augustine, Touch a Truck and Community FOCUS Back to School event in Hastings, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Back to School Event at Tringali Barn, and event at Eagles Lodge. The community got to check out SJSO’s SWAT vehicle, meet K9 Star, and took home SJSO souvenirs to prepare them for the new school year. #teamsjso
