The latest from researchers analyzing NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope’s observations of HD 80606 b, an exoplanet four times the mass of Jupiter with an extremely elliptical orbit that sweeps close by its Sun-like star.
One well-done gas giant planet, coming right up! Webb examined a “hot Jupiter” exoplanet called HD 80606 b, with four times Jupiter’s mass, and a very elliptical orbit that sweeps close by its Sun-like star. go.nasa.gov/3QtN6xr

Loggerhead sea turtles 🐢 don’t just migrate willy-nilly. As it turns out, they follow a narrow band of ideal chlorophyll and heat levels—which stretches across the Pacific and moves north and south with the seasons! In honor of #WorldSeaTurtleDay, see how data collected from tagged turtles and @NOAA’s #satellites reveals this migration pattern!

In my view from the @Space_Station, the Caspian Sea is one of the most captivating features on our planet, with its swirling, pastel colors reminiscent of Claude Monet’s palette casting an otherworldly glow. It also happens to be the world’s largest inland body of water, and has a salinity about 1/3 that of average ocean water. Like Great Salt Lake, the Caspian Sea hosts a unique ecosystem, serving as the primary habitat for beluga and sturgeon fishes, the source of the world’s finest caviar. Which one is your favorite view? #EarthArt

6/16 - Several tropical waves are moving across the tropical Atlantic and eastern Pacific. They can be tough to spot on standard satellite imagery, but total precipitable water imagery reveals them much more clearly. The next wave looks ready to emerge from Africa!

1. Why emphasize electricity rather than magnetism? Every magnetic field originates from moving electric charge. Magnetism is not an independent phenomenon but rather one aspect of a comprehensive electromagnetic framework.

2. Despite its increasing significance, the role of electricity itself frequently remains underrepresented in scientific discourse. The electric force lies at the core of cosmic behavior through detailed analysis of the continuous movement and redistribution of charge—

3. this process fundamentally defines electricity and serves as the driving mechanism of the cosmos. One of the greatest organizing forces in the cosmos may not be hidden at all since magnetism cannot be separated from electric charge—it’s simply hiding in plain sight.

1. Following the Herzsprung-Russell diagram, astronomers propose that the age of a star can be estimated, providing a crucial insight into the conditions of the universe since the hypothetical Big Bang, approximately 13.8 billion years ago.

3. Recently, another discovery necessitates a fundamental reevaluation of stellar theory. Located roughly 730 L.Y. away, orbiting the center of the Milky Way galaxy, a so-called dead star has significantly challenged astronomers' understanding of the behaviors of stellar remnants
