🚨 Absolute madness in the US right now as the Uruguay national team gets pulled to the side of the road and treated like straight-up suspects. They literally just landed for the World Cup and security is already ripping their luggage open on the tarmac with sniffer dogs everywhere Qatar and Russia hosted without this level of paranoia but the "land of the free" is handing out pure humiliation to Global South athletes before a single match is even played, the double standards are screaming.

Today the EU had a choice on Israel, and it chose nothing. No sanctions on Ben-Gvir. No ban on settlement goods. No suspension of the trade deal. The same day, a leaked document revealed the EU has known since 2017 that it could lawfully do all of this. So this is not a story about what Europe cannot do. It is a story about what it refuses to do, and how it hides the refusal. 🧵 ↳ Reuters : “no consensus” on Ben-Gvir (today): usnews.com/news/world/articl…

So when Europe says it is “divided” and its “hands are tied,” understand what is really happening. A minority is overruling a near-majority through rules the EU drops the moment it wants to act, to protect settlement trade worth two hundredths of one percent of its economy, while a genocide its own inquiry calls ongoing goes on. This is the gap Palestinians have learned to expect: principle in the statement, absence in the deed. The EU is not unable to act. It is unwilling, and it has built a machinery of process to disguise the difference. ↳ OHCHR : Commission of Inquiry: genocide ongoing (April 2026): ohchr.org/en/press-releases/… ↳ ICJ : Advisory Opinion, 19 July 2024: icj-cij.org/node/204176   node/204176

They will say the EU already acted, sanctioning “extremist settlers” in May. Read the detail. Three people and four organisations, nothing more. It moved only after Hungary lifted its veto, and only once Hamas leaders were added to the same package so the gesture could be sold as balanced. Seven names and a both-sides clause, offered as Europe’s response to a genocide and a half-century occupation. ↳ Consilium — four entities, three individuals: consilium.europa.eu/en/press… ↳ Al Jazeera — unlocked after Hungary’s veto fell; paired with Hamas listings: aljazeera.com/news/2026/5/11…

Israel has been ethnically cleansing parts of Syria, as it has done the same in Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza. A Drop Site News report documents how Israel has seized land in southwest Syria's Quneitra since Assad's fall on December 8, 2024e xpelling residents, demolishing homes, and conducting ,arrest raids. Mohammed Al-Ali, 50, was evicted from Al-Hamidiya that night. "They barely gave us ten minutes to get out." Israel later demolished his home, reportedly because it "blocked sight lines" from a new base. "They stole our home and our life. They stole our memories." The area is technically a UN buffer zone under the 1974 disengagement agreement, but Netanyahu declared it "collapsed" and sent troops in from the occupied Golan. Israel claims its raids target Hezbollah; officials reject this. "These were areas of the revolution, why would we harbor Hezbollah?" said Mayor Hail Abdullah. A UN report counts at least 250 Syrians arrested since 2024, with 50 still held. "Israel is running its southern Lebanon model in Quneitra," said Nanar Hawach of the International Crisis Group, while Amnesty International found dozens of demolitions that should be investigated as war crimes. In April 2026, Israel approved 3,000 new Golan settler families by 2030. Al-Ali, whose grandparents fled the Golan in 1967, refuses to leave: "I was born here and I will die here."

You thought Epstein Island was bad? Israel built the only military prison in the world designated for children. Children are subjected to beatings, torture, and rape on a regular basis. Conviction rates in courts reach 99.7%. This applies only to non-jewish children.

“Israel is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to try to execute Palestinians on live TV.” Read that sentence again.
After passing two death penalty laws in six weeks, Israel is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to try to execute Palestinians on live TV. Unanimous support for the laws shows that Israeli society can unite around “death to Palestinians.” mondoweiss.net/2026/06/the-p…

One of the greatest threats to internet freedom and privacy are these manipulative laws, now spreading, that force people to prove they're of a certain age to use social media platforms and other sites. The UK Government, naturally, is now seeking this. The defense of these laws is emotionally powerful by appealing to child protection, but the real goal is online surveillance, an end to anonymity, and control over political content that young people can access. Few have done a better job reporting on these tyrannical threats than @TaylorLorenz. Read this:
“Instead of addressing the known causes of strife among young people, politicians around the world seem intent on leveraging their suffering to push laws that will strip both young and old alike of our rights.”

Earth’s precise planetary tilt may be the reason it can host life. Planets don’t just spin — they lean. This tilt, or “axial tilt,” dramatically shapes a planet’s climate, weather patterns, and seasonal behavior. Earth’s 23.26° tilt is the reason we experience seasons. But other planets take it to extremes: Uranus is tilted nearly 98°, rotating almost entirely on its side, leading to seasons that last decades. Venus spins in the opposite direction with a tilt of 177.3°, resulting in a day that’s longer than its year. Meanwhile, Mercury’s nearly upright posture means it barely experiences any seasonal variation. These cosmic inclinations aren’t just quirks — they’re climate-defining forces. A planet’s tilt determines how sunlight hits its surface, driving winds, storms, and the potential for habitability. Scientists also use tilt as a clue when studying exoplanets, helping them assess if distant worlds could support life. The more we understand axial tilt, the better we grasp the delicate balance that makes Earth — and perhaps other planets — livable. Source: Laskar, J., & Robutel, P. (1993). FIFA is proposing Israel and Palestine play an under-15 football match as the opening game of a youth tournament in September. This comes as Palestinians mourn 1,007 athletes and sports officials killed since October 2023, with all five of Gaza's major football stadiums destroyed and Al-Yarmouk Stadium converted into a military detention center. Israeli snipers deliberately targeted the legs of unarmed protesters during the Great March of Return, maiming thousands. The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant for war crimes. The ICJ is examining a genocide case. And FIFA wants symbolism over accountability. Read more at: qudsnen.com/share/67872

While reporting from Halhul today in the occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers severely damaged our vehicle and those of several Palestinians, smashing windows & puncturing tires. Thankfully, no one was in the vehicles. We won't be deterred from continuing to report on this story.

🚨 Robert De Niro with a brutal reflection on patriotism: “Loving our country is starting to sound like an abused spouse saying they love their abuser.” I also want my country back. I want to love Britain again. Brexit, like Trump, changed this country for the worse. It brought decline, division, higher costs, lost opportunities and broken promises instead of the brighter future we were sold. Ten years of damage is enough. I want the Britain I could be proud of.

Lebanon files formal complaint with UN over Israel's use of cancerous herbicide, violating Chemical Weapons Convention —— Lebanon has filed a formal complaint with the UN Security Council accusing the Israeli military of carrying out a chemical warfare campaign targeting agricultural lands near the Blue Line, Lebanon's Foreign Ministry confirmed. The diplomatic escalation follows a February aerial operation where Israeli aircraft sprayed southern Lebanese border villages, including Aita al-Shaab, with extreme concentrations of the toxic weedkiller glyphosate. Laboratory analysis of soil and plant samples from the targeted zones revealed chemical concentrations reaching a staggering 22,750 micrograms per gram—more than 11,000 times the standard levels used in conventional farming. The Lebanese government explicitly categorized the border spraying as a deliberate war crime intended to systematically poison the environment, destroy local livelihoods, and render entire border communities uninhabitable. The complaint states that the deployment of high-density toxins constitutes a flagrant breach of international humanitarian law and the Chemical Weapons Convention. UN officials have voiced serious alarms over the long-term impact of the chemical assault, confirming that the operation threatens the health of civilians, risks permanently ruining vital farmland, and violates UN Resolution 1701.

All this talk of benefit cuts never focuses on the fact that before you cut so called "disability benefits" there needs to be huge investment in making our society accessible & inclusive. Can't work if the workplaces aren't accessible, or transport, or housing etc.
