LA Metro didn’t just deny our records request—they dragged it out for over a month, extending deadlines twice before finally admitting they had no intention of releasing the videos or evidence showing how they failed riders by allowing fare evaders to commit violent crimes, including murder, on their system. The reality is simple: they never intended to be transparent. Their response makes clear they see no public value in letting taxpayers see how their transit system failed to protect innocent people from being murdered. Accountability is exactly what they’re trying to hide.

The California government is such a dystopia that they are denying our lawful records request on the argument that "the public interest served by not disclosing the record clearly outweighs the public interest served by disclosure of the record." They've gone full Orwell.

This is outrageous: We requested surveillance video of four recent homicides on the LA Metro. The authorities are now denying our lawful FOIA—because they are scared the truth will get out. Hey @MetroLosAngeles, preserve your documents. We're not going to stop.

California spends $24 million teaching Native Americans how to light a fire. You read that right. The state’s “Tribal Wildfire Resilience” grants have funded, inter alia, drumming rituals, sage blessings, spotted-owl monitoring, summer-camp renovations, and $1 million for forest-themed ingredients at tribe-owned restaurants. The tribes self-certify their own burn leaders based on “cultural experience.” Everyone else, though, must complete the state’s 40-hour professional course. Gavin Newsom just blew $189 MILLION in taxpayer cash on tablets for death row killers—so they can harass victims and binge on porn from their cells while the rest of California burns. This is what “smart on crime” looks like under Newsom: luxury devices for the worst monsters in the state, zero accountability, and victims be damned. Time to end this clown show and boot Newsom out of Sacramento.
