Wonderful work by the Victorian Military Society in keeping alive the memory of the great exploits of ‘Young Winston’. @RSStGeorge @NAM_London
And thanks to everyone 'behind the scenes' from the VMS and the @NAM_London who contributed to making the event such a success!

I believe that we still have the spirit to defend our King & country, even if govt can’t quite afford the tools & equipment. @DefenceAssoc @TomTugendhat @JohnHealey_MP @RSStGeorge @BritishArmy @RoyalNavy @RafHM @RoyalAirForce @Telegraph

Blunt resignation letter to PM from Healey. Says proposed increase in defence spending falls far short of what’s required. And reveals defence spending would still only be 2.68% by 2030 (currently circa 2.5%). A quite pathetic increase. This is a devastating blow for Starmer at a time when he couldn’t be more vulnerable. Interesting to see what Andy Burnham says. Not said a dickie bird about defence so far.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey has resigned. I said his position was untenable and advised him to resign on @timesradio this morning. He must have been listening 😜

The first duty of government is defence of the Realm. @JohnHealey_MP’s principled resignation states clearly this administration has failed. I’ve criticised every party for the state we’re in but the truth is now clear: the complacent confidence in peace is over. We must rearm.

Fond memories of the RFH, the one remaining 1951 Festival of Britain structure to have survived into our anti-Britain age. @DerekTurner1964 @RFHOrgan @RSStGeorge @YesterdaysBrit1 @BeardyHowse @simon_schama @Roger_Scruton
Lovely bit of social history, here. View from the Royal Festival Hall, 1950. This beautiful image was produced by SR Badmin for a set of contemporary postcards celebrating the Festival of Britain. And best of all … (1/2)

This is the kind of fellow we need in our by-elections and House of Commons. A true, tweed-wearing Englishman (or Irishman) who appreciates our country’s deepest roots & true values. @timothy_stanley @Roger_Scruton @CPREBerkshire @CAupdates
