TPN Dev Update. The initial validator and miner code is written and working. We are now building everything on top of this foundation. First goals are set. Scope of work and roadmap drops early next week. We are moving fast.

#SN65 on $TAO LLM Optimization Engine
TPN is becoming an AI model optimization engine. We've seen a lot of excitement this week, and a lot of fair questions too, both are welcome. The full team met in Amsterdam yesterday to map out exactly how we intend to move forward. A lot of documentation, technical detail, and updates are coming over the next days and weeks. We're building in public.

I am really excited about @0xDutchmikel's new vision People and businesses all over need models in different shapes and sizes. People come to TPN if they need a model of a certain quality and size. Today that process is guesswork, you compress a model and only find out afterwards how much intelligence you gave up, and benchmarking it properly takes time, expertise and hardware most teams do not have. TLDR, yay I made a model cheaper but I have no idea how much intelligence I lost. With TPN, users submit a bid in and say I need Kimi 2.5 but I need it compressed down and working on this kind of hardware. Miners compete via software optimizations (quantization, pruning, distillation, model merging, often stacked together) to provide this new end model The interesting part is the competition, miners are competing through never ending optimizations to make models not only smaller, but also more performant. Smaller on its own while losing fidelity is the wrong tradeoff. You set hard constraints on how much intelligence you are willing to sacrifice and the network races to find the best model inside those limits, every epoch, with validators verifying results and the network compounding knowledge with every request There has been a big focus on the next generation of models and fine tuned models but this is a whole new optimization path on compression/quality to run these models on the edge The end game is frontier intelligence that runs everywhere, your laptop, your phone, cars, custom silicon, air gapped enterprises, with TPN as the optimization layer the agentic economy routes through. The industry spent a decade making models bigger, the next phase is making them usable anywhere, and that unlock is what makes private self sovereign AI actually real.

$TAO Bittensor Subnet 65 - The Pivot - My honest view This is one of the most reasonable pivots I’ve seen in the Bittensor ecosystem recently. The problem they chose to attack is real and already has market traction: inference costs, edge AI, and local agents. The framing around distributed adversarial competition fits well with the Bittensor thesis. Execution, however, will be the filter. If they can build a system where optimization quality is measurable in a reliable and robust way, it could become genuinely useful infrastructure, especially for agent developers looking to run lightweight models locally. If the scoring ends up weak or dependent on generic benchmarks, it risks becoming another startup producing models that look good on paper but fail to matter in practice. Worth highlighting: the target product complements other subnets well. Potential partnerships are easy to imagine. I see it as a Smart direction, aligned with a real market problem. Extremely difficult execution where it matters most: objective quality evaluation. The next roadmap and whitepaper deserve close attention, especially how they plan to measure “lost intelligence.” Is this enough to give the subnet a new direction? Execution and delivery will answer that. @TPN_Labs, you guys have my confidence. Work hard (and fast, if possible).

Subnet 65 (@TPN_Labs) has announced a major strategic pivot, evolving from decentralized VPN infrastructure into Bittensor’s LLM optimization and compression engine. Their new vision focuses on helping developers, enterprises, and AI teams deploy powerful models more efficiently by leveraging decentralized competition to discover the best compression, quantization, pruning, and optimization techniques. Key highlights: • Distributed marketplace for LLM optimization • Incentivized competition among global miners • Lower AI infrastructure costs • Improved deployment on edge devices and local hardware • Benchmark-driven model performance validation As AI models continue to grow in size and complexity, solutions that make frontier intelligence faster, smaller, and more accessible will play an increasingly important role in the broader AI ecosystem. Excited to see how Subnet 65 executes on this next chapter.

Sounds akin to @webuildscore model for computer vision but applied to LLMs. Why build a giant model that can do everything? Instead have a customer tell you what they need and you can build a model just for them. Although I loved the VPN, this is a great pivot @TPN_Labs. $TAO

I think this new direction is at least 10x bigger than the original TPN $TAO subnet idea. It solves a problem that almost every AI company will eventually face: making models smaller, faster, and cheaper without sacrificing too much performance. What I like most is that this doesn't just create value for TPN. It has the potential to improve the performance of countless other subnets across the ecosystem. Besides, I think they have a very strong team. I like it.

Turmoil forces a choice: patch up a leaky ship or build the vessel meant for the open ocean. Company-wide pivots require heavy lifting and hard choices, but protecting the future means building where the massive upside is. Onward.

AI agents are the fastest growing category in tech. Every single one of them needs to interact with the internet. Yet, without the right infra they get detected, flagged and blocked. TPN is the necessary piece of infrastructure that fills the gap.

Most connectivity providers rely on datacenter IPs. For many use cases that's enough. But businesses, applications, and AI agents increasingly require residential access that reflects how real users connect to the internet. @TPN_Labs provides the residential connectivity layer powering VPNs, applications, and autonomous systems.
