“Only Indian Seafarers Are Being Attacked” Distress Call Raises Serious Concerns
A distress message allegedly sent by Indian seafarers in Iranian waters has surfaced on social media, expressing fear and desperation after an attack on their vessel.
According to the message, the crew claims that Indian-operated ships are being targeted despite being civilian vessels with no military role. One crew member reportedly said: “We are not military personnel. We are civilian seafarers. Why are we being dragged into this conflict?”
Safety and protection of Indian civilian seafarers must be treated as a matter of utmost urgency. Any attack resulting in harm to civilians deserves a transparent investigation and accountability.

UP: Samajwadi Party Leader Taufiq Qureshi Arrested in Shamli Conversion Case
Police in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested Taufiq Qureshi, a state secretary of the Samajwadi Party, in connection with the alleged religious conversion case involving Ayush Malik. He has been sent to judicial custody.
Taufiq Qureshi is the brother of Chandni Qureshi, the wife of Ayush Malik, who is also known as Mohammad Ali. Police have reportedly named him as an accused in the conversion case.

MP Court Convicts 14 in Mob Lynching Case
On August 3, 2022, Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Amravati, Maharashtra, was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Seoni Malwa, Madhya Pradesh, over accusations of cow smuggling.
Four years later, on Friday, an Additional District and Sessions Court in Seoni Malwa found 14 accused guilty and sentenced all of them to life imprisonment.
As the verdict was announced, emotional scenes unfolded outside the courtroom. Family members of the convicted individuals reportedly broke down in tears and protested as police prepared to take them into custody.
Some relatives allegedly lay down in front of police vehicles and attempted to prevent the convicts from being taken to jail, leading to a brief confrontation with law enforcement. Police eventually brought the situation under control and transferred all 14 convicts to prison.
According to the families of the convicted men, the accused had been influenced by others and had participated believing they were involved in activities related to cow protection. However, the court found them guilty in the lynching case and awarded life sentences.
