Wait, wut? We’ve got 1 shot to build a 50m pool in Vanc in next 4 yrs. It requires council to put $275m into pool/community centre complex at Hastings CC or Kensington CC. Guy shouting below has no $ and no land to do what he claims. Will turn VAC into 10yr hole in ground.

Toronto FIFA World Cup scandal smells. Disclosure needed of: who decided to do this; who decided who could buy the tickets; who decided the price; list of purchasers, and; are any fundraisers, campaigners or donors for councillors, or lobbyists, or councillors or their relatives.
NEW: The City of Toronto says only a fraction of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tickets it bought as an investment remain unsold, with the soccer gamble looking set to pay off a week before the games begin. #ToPoli globalnews.ca/news/11891194/…

I'm prepared to go to jail over this. My grandmother Rita Pete went to St. Mary's Indian Residential School. She experienced terrible abuse. As a consequence, she struggled with alcohol use most of her life. My mother was born with FASD as a consequence of her using alcohol to cope with her trauma. I am Chief of my community Chawathil First Nation. I am working to address the longstanding impacts of these past policies through renovating homes, building new homes, creating childcare, and growing businesses through economic development. I have interviewed people who went to Indian Residential Schools. I have interviewed people who believe Indian Residential Schools were awful, horrible schools, meant to remove the Indian from the child. I've also interviewed people who believe they were well intended, generous investments by Canadian taxpayers meant to assimilate a society and had shortcomings. Like with many things, the history is dark, complicated, and with any policy that existed for a long time, across a whole country - there were different experiences. No one story tells us everything. No report shares the full experience of the individuals who went. No commentator today can disprove someone's lived experience with statistics. The path forward is not to criminalize speech, questions, or debate. The path forward is empathy for past attendees. The path forward is truth based on facts. The path forward is real conversations. The path forward is to lean into complexity. If the government criminalizes this, then I will be a criminal for having these conversations. If I am a criminal by the laws definition, then I am committed to going to jail over this.
.@SenateCA human rights committee votes 7 to 1 to criminalize Indian Residential School “denialism.” Public statements intended to promote hatred by downplaying impacts of Residential Schools would be outlawed under threat of 2 years in jail. blacklocks.ca/vote-to-outlaw… #cdnpoli @TerryGlavin @jonkay

The whales can't vote. Vancouver residents can. ABC and Vancouver Liberal Park Board Commissioners voted down stronger protections for marine wildlife. If you want leaders who will stand up for Vancouver's coast, parks, and wildlife, vote for the Vancouver Greens. #VanPoli

North Lagoon Dr in Stanley Park is two lanes but hard to tell with worn white lane marking lines. Tricky for both drivers and the many cyclists who use this route. Novice cyclists/tourists often thrust into a mess. Near misses here all the time. @CityofVancouver @ParkBoard

Council and ABC have no authority to construct a pool within Sunset Park. It is designated as a permanent park and therefore requires Park Board approval. Several other aquatic facilities have been planned ahead of this. Disappointing electioneering. #stayinyourlane #vanpoli
ABC Vancouver is delivering a new pool for South Vancouver! The ABC-led Vancouver City Council has identified delivering a 25 metre pool at Sunset Park as a priority for the upcoming capital plan. This is a big win for the community members who have fought for so long to bring an outdoor pool to South Van and builds on the success of the recently-opened Sunset Seniors Centre. This is just one of the many ways that ABC is getting Vancouver back to community. We're also working to make beginner swimming lessons free and are investing $400M to replace five aging community centres to create a better future for families, youth, and seniors. #abcvancouver #backtocommunity #publicsafety #affordability

ABC continues to spread shameless and dangerous disinformation. Just weeks after the Mayor and Cllr Zhou were caught spreading outrageous lies about me, Zhou went on WeChat and claimed my tax rebate idea was a "kill the rich" policy.
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim is lying to the Chinese community again. This time, he’s saying that he’s the only Mayoral candidate (and ABC the only party) that supports the police and public safety. “This is simply false, and, frankly outrageous,” said Michael Wu, Vancouver Liberal candidate for City Council, who previously served as an RCMP Auxiliary Constable and has experience fighting organized crime. Wu’s comments, along with comments from Vancouver Mayoral candidate Kareem Allam, can be found in the news release in following post.

You’re welcome! Courtesy @VanGreens 😊
Batch is a great testament to @vanliberals Park Board @markrhalyk’s work. Meeting up with UBC’s Scooter Dom there this week, I had fun, but also learned about how hard this summer labour market is for students and the growing challenges they face with food security (37% of undergraduates). Small businesses are the biggest employers of young people in the region, and Ken Sim’s 26% increase in property taxes and lack of progress on reducing permit times has made it harder for business owners to grow their summer workforce. We have a plan to fix that.
