Region Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperatures are in record territory, approaching 3 standard deviations above the 1982-2011 mean, an anomaly that has never happened before in recorded history. The Climate 8-ball says: "four!"

This is really exciting! From @ThosVarley : "... aberrant eATP signaling is thought to underlie many chronic and developmental illnesses, including things like ME/CFS and post-acute infectious syndromes. This might be giving us a first look at the "network level" changes induced by the CDR. (Paging @RenegadeRes)"

Wait. For. It. NASA animation shows Global temperatures warm slowly at first, then rapidly. Warming is accelerating! Here’s the truth. It’s real. It’s us. And we have to come to terms with it, and deal with reality, rather than deceiving ourselves, and hoping it goes away. It won’t… without intervention. #climate #globalwarming #science #climatechange

Finally, this may better help us understand the emergence and maintenance of multicellularity itself. Now that we have techniques for quantifying and manipulating global measures of multicellular coordination, there's a lot of future work we can embark on 8/N

Smooth, comprehensive, and clear. Everything is explained carefully, even for outsiders. The writing style, the flow of ideas, the results.. everything behind the work all feel seriously underrated. By @ThosVarley nature.com/articles/s44260-0…

How fast does Hantavirus evolve? I know with avian flu there's a concern that the longer it circulates in mammals, the more likely it is to become adapted to them. Is there a similar concern with Hantavirus in humans?

In a world of grade-inflation, mindless credentialism, AI disruption, and declining educational outcomes, the world desperately needs a place like Hampshire College. It's easy to write off Hampshire as the "woke Frisbee school" but it's original vision is more relevant than ever.
Zillow Alert: Hampshire College, Amherst MA. 4br/2ba just kidding it's a whole college. Listed at way under replacement cost. Act now!

Any sociologists have theories about why Reddit in particular is such a swamp of misanthropy? It doesn't seem obvious that it had to be that way, but I've been on chronic illness/pain forums that had more joie de vivre than a typical subreddit.

Very excited by the possibility of doing both a world historic fuel supply shock and a hantavirus pandemic simultaneously this summer. I am sure everyone will be very normal about all of this.
