My kidney transplant was last night and went very well. They are releasing me to go home tomorrow. I’ll have a caregiver for 6 weeks of course. God bless my sister. She made all this possible.

About a year ago I posted that I was in stage 5 kidney failure. Since then I’ve been doing peritoneal dialysis every night at home. Mayo has been evaluating me for a kidney transplant. Wednesday I got the call and next Thursday I’m getting a new kidney.

As I stood outside in a socially distanced line, having to wear a mask to go into the grocery store ten at a time, looking at all the broken glass from looted stores around us because riots were somehow not super spreaders… I don’t know, made me a little dubious.
