Caring for patients with craniofacial anomalies requires a multidisciplinary team. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons play an important role at every stage. They may perform cleft and craniofacial surgeries, provide alveolar bone grafting and reconstruct the jaws to restore both function and appearance. Learn more about the role of OMSs in patient care at MyOMS.org.

Tonight, during the Jennie Sealy Hospital 10-year anniversary celebration, I looked across a lobby filled with employees from across @UTMBHealth gathered together to celebrate this important milestone. As we reflected on the past decade through stories, memories, music and laughter, I was inspired not only by how far Jennie Sealy Hospital has come, but by the future ahead for UTMB. Hearing stories of perseverance, compassion and dedication from employees across the institution was a powerful reminder of what makes this health system so special. It is an honor to help lead an institution that is so essential to Southeast Texas and built by people who show up every day with purpose, compassion and commitment to others. Thank you to the teams across UTMB whose hard work continues to shape the future of health care for the patients and communities we serve.

To help diagnose oral cancer early, everyone should perform routine self-exams and identify potential oral cancer symptoms. Taking a minute to check for unusual sores, lumps or changes could help you catch oral cancer early – when treatment is often easier and more effective. At UTMB, we are committed to advancing discoveries that improve lives today and shape a healthier future for generations to come. The new Moody Longevity Trial reflects that mission at its core — exploring whether an existing, FDA‑approved medication can slow biological aging and enhance quality of life for older adults. This groundbreaking work exemplifies our leadership in geroscience and our dedication to helping people live longer, stronger, and with greater vitality. I am deeply proud of our researchers and grateful for the Moody Endowment’s support as we open new doors in the science of healthy aging. Read more about this new trial at: utmb.us/f81
