I think we've outgrown representative democracy. If you've got 15 minutes to watch a Ted Talk, this guy lays out basically the sort of system I've been saying we need to transition to for over a decade. Far more eloquently than I can write in a tweet. youtu.be/CyGWML6cI_k

Sounds like that @DOGE thing went about as well as we all knew it would. 🤔
Screwworm, a dangerous flesh eating maggot parasite that burrows into the living tissue of animals had been eradicated in the US for decades. That is until Trump ousted thousands of staff from the USDA pest prevention office.

Sunday afternoon project: Pressure wash, sand & stain the top of the picnic table. Today I learned the tape they put on sanding belts apparently gets old. Broke 3 belts from 2 different packs before resorting to a new pack of belts. Last one finished the job.

So, like, will Trump be be singing some songs, playing an instrument, or just doing his usual jerking-two-penises dance to the YMCA song? At least P.T. Barnum knew people weren't coming from all around just to see *him*. 😅
Trump: “I understand Artists are getting ‘the yips’ having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists,’ and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!”

The greatest failure of AI is not in its inception, its capability, or even its own shortcomings. The failure is that "brilliant" people choose to deploy AI in so many places where there was no need, making its detriment to society & its resource cost entirely unjustifiable.
AI is replacing the cheapest labor work with the most expensive infrastructure ever built. And failing to accomplish these simple tasks. Everyone hates AI.

Can we PLEASE get AI to actually pick plastic out of the ocean, or do all the robots have to become screenwriters?

1990s scientists: We cloned sheep. We landed robots on Mars. Scientists today: For the thousandth time: The Earth is round. Vaccines don’t cause autism. The joke isn’t that science stopped advancing. It’s that society started believing propaganda bots on X.

The White House posting about Harambe in 2026:
Today, we remember a legend. On this day in history, Harambe would have celebrated another birthday. An icon that became part of internet history, American culture, and an entire generation’s timeline. Tomorrow marks 10 years since we lost him. Ten years since the moment the world stopped scrolling and collectively mourned something bigger than a meme. He became a symbol of loyalty, strength, chaos, unity, and the strange beauty of the internet bringing millions of people together for one cause: never forgetting Harambe. Everyone remembers where they were when they heard the news. And somehow, a decade later, his legacy still lives on. Gone, but never forgotten. Rest easy to a true patriot. 🕊️🇺🇸 May 27, 1999 — May 28, 2016 Forever in our hearts.

REAL meritocracy

I admire his commitment to the bit, despite looking really performatively gay in doing so. But, uh, couldn't he have just hopped on the wide handrail to the right and walked up with like a tenth of the effort? 🤔😅
Man avoids “gay stairs” by dry humping a pole and bouncing up and down on it 🤷🏻‍♂️

For security? You asked for my phone number, I gave you my phone number, now you wanna be extra. I'll pay more and go elsewhere, @Walmart. It wasn't a huge amount, but lost a sale because I'm not playing your games today. I hope more people get tired of your stupid policies.

These Fasttrack hooks are nice enough, but $5 at Walmart vs $8 at Amazon & $12 at Lowes. 'Bout to buy a welder and learn how to make my own out of scrap metal. 😅
