With the rise of low requirements local llms from @MistralAI an frameworks such as @ollama, Ibelieve that @obsdmd find itself to be a prime candidate for LLM assistants. Providing a native solution for interacting with local notes would greatly unlock the information stored.

Additionally, ensuring that this framework supports an open plugin ecosystem (allowing for also retrieving information from others sources: web, personal calendar, etc...) combined with RAG could fully finish to open the gate for local-first privacy-preserving LLM assistants!

1/5 I have started work to give my Obsidian plugins some love, starting with BRAT. This is the Beta Reviewer's Auto-update Tool for @obsdmd. It helps with installing, testing, and updating plugins under development. #TfT #Obsidian obsidian.md/plugins?id=obsid…

Replying to @obsdmd
@obsdmd and @logseq are very different tools, catering to very different workflows. And at the same time them both existing separately goes against a goal they both share: to gather information effectively in one place and allow for linking data together. Does this make sense..?

The workflows they respectively enable are not mutually-exclusive, yet users are limited to one or the other through their choice of app. Both can be used simultaneously, but at the price of a lot of convenience, and result in constantly having to juggle between apps. Solution..?

The solution would be to further focus on offering said workflows in each respective tool. For @obsdmd for example, a proper outliner plugin, capable of operating on top of @logseq files, and allowing for basic querying of nodes alongside notes through dataview for example.

One feature lacking from most pkm tools today is the ability to view and manipulate genealogy (gedcom) files. These could prove fantastic for storing/managing notes and information related to people, especially if well integrated with the ability to include wikilinks.

On top of being a great datastructure standard for storing this specific information, being able to manage and integrate this information alongside the rest of one's notes could prove increadibly insightful. So here is a free @obsdmd or @logseq plugin idea if anyone is up for it!

(4/11) That challenge is an opportunity. If we draw out the technical stack of an FM application, we can see where things are changing the fastest, and what are the key opportunities for founders. Here's how the stack looks in January 2023.

Page analytics was just announced by @NotionHQ , and I feel like there is an opportunity for creating an equivalent plugin for @obsdmd. Thanks to the newly available @ActivityWatchIt plugin, the data is already available. Anyone up for taking this on?

Extremely grateful to @LordGrimmauld for his work on the @ActivityWatchIt watcher for @obsdmd. Being effectively able to track activity within one's pkm system will enable one to gain unprecedented insight into their thinking processes and thought patterns!

An interesting plugin for @obsdmd or @logseq could be one for enhancing PDFs, by displaying links directly on a PDF to a personal note if the pdf contains a word sequence matching the note's name. This could enable tighter integration between external resources and a pkm vault

We are at the dawn of the AI age, and with it the rise of truly powerful personal assistants. LLMs of the likes of @OpenAI's ChatGPT have already demonstrated their incredible ability to integrate and synthesise unstructured data. The only requirement: the data must be text.

From there, tools such as @gpt_index are already starting to be capable of constructing an index, which in turn can be fed to LLMs, allowing for customizing them to each individual, resulting in a truly personal assistant.

The big questions then are: - Is there a way of enabling this in a safe, secure, and privacy-preserving fashion - Will large companies play along with this kind of system, by standardising data retrieval Either way, I look forward to seeing the progress made in the coming years!
