Maine veterans brought 168 lunchboxes to Susan Collins' door. One for each schoolgirl killed in the Minab school bombing. She was forced to go on record. That is what organizing looks like. Thank you @VeteransForPeace. No more forever wars.

This documentary is the single most inspiring thing I’ve seen in years. @DemocracyNow gets no media industry buzz, but considering the odds & money stacked against it & its enormous reach, it is the greatest media success story of this era — and it’s not particularly close.

“Dear migrants, before I say any other word to you, I want to bow before your dignity. “You are not numbers or case files. “You are people — with a family and a home left behind, with dreams that no one has the right to scorn.” — Pope Leo XIV

Palestinian activist and green card holder Mohsen Mahdawi, who was targeted by the Trump administration last year as part of a crackdown on pro-Palestinian campus activism, faces a new deportation threat. A federal immigration judge has sided with the administration and renewed removal proceedings against him, reviving a case that had been dismissed by an earlier immigration judge. Now Mahdawi is taking his case directly to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit, telling Democracy Now! that he is "technically without a backup plan" and relying on the federal courts for justice "because I believe that what the Trump administration has done is unconstitutional." democracynow.org/2026/6/12/m…

🇺🇸 🇵🇸 Sama Safi, a 20-year-old American citizen and honors psychology student at Birzeit University, remains in Israeli detention after soldiers seized her from her family’s home near Ramallah at 3 a.m. on June 2, with lawmakers warning her life is at risk. Safi, whose family lives in Florida, was taken without charge and transferred to Ofer prison, then to the Moscovia interrogation center in Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society. Her family says she has a chronic condition that causes fevers up to 105°F and requires daily medication and a quarterly injection she travels abroad to receive. She was one of five Palestinian women detained that week, including two members of the Palestinian women’s national football team. The Israeli military said the women were suspected of “promoting terrorist activities.” Rep. Rashida Tlaib and Sen. Chris Van Hollen have both demanded her release. “I am really sick and tired of the Israeli government taking American taxpayer dollars and then mistreating Americans,” Van Hollen said. Israel has not told her family or the U.S. embassy where she is being held. Rep. Tlaib said, “Her life is at risk—our government must free her now!”

A federal immigration judge has sided with the Trump administration, ordering the deportation of Palestinian activist Mohsen Madawi, who is appealing the order. “Do we believe in the rule of law according to the Constitution, or do we believe in the rule of whoever is in power?” says Madawi. He has received a deportation order to Jordan, “a country that is not my country.”

This is a widely respected doctor held without charge since December 2024. There is no civilized system of justice that allows for the imprisoning of people indefinitely without charge. He is a hostage, his crime was writing an oped for the New York Times.
Video from a court in Jerusalem shows Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya appearing by video link and attempting to speak with his lawyer before Israeli court security blocked the screen and cut the connection, preventing journalists from filming. His attorney repeatedly told the court he could neither see nor hear Abu Safiya after the video feed was cut, saying his captors had “turned off the camera,” further fueling concerns over the imprisoned Gaza doctor’s treatment after he appeared emaciated and bore apparent signs of physical abuse.

For months, Israel refused to let Habiba evacuate as her limbs withered away. She lost 3 limbs because of Israel. Thousands of injured children and cancer patients are still refused treatment or evacuation by Israel. Issuing mass death sentences without firing a single bullet.
A year ago, the world met Habiba al-Askari, a three-year-old toddler in Gaza fighting for her life. @JomanaCNN and @AbeerSalmanCNN's reporting resulted in Habiba's medical evacuation to Amman. CNN returned to Jordan this year to reunite with little Habiba and her family.
