I would love someone to explain why silently and unwillingly removing your clothes in front of men who demand it, is an act of “compassion”. How is it not humiliation and degradation? How is “be kind” and “compassion” in this example not coercion?

It is difficult to think of a worse case of a lack of disclosure - it goes to the worst examples of abuse of process. The main suggestion that progress could be made today with initial disclosure doesn’t take us far,

... conduct towards D and all this social media material. It begs the q as to whether C disclosed this. and if not why not? Also I can confirm "initial disclosure was never complied with" and these docs go to cred of C - none of this has been addressed.

J - this case is about trans prisoners being searched TO - it's about both the prisoners and the officers doing the searching. It's surprising that the NPCC and BTP would promulgate their policies in this way. J - yes. TO - <takes judge to bundle> J - <does not have document>

TO - going through docs, can I just show the parliamentary q&a. Q on 10 Jan from Lord Lucas, asking if it is policy for officers male at birth to strip search women. Reply was PACE is clear, ss must be conducted by same sex officer. J - that's about officers

We are at the Royal Courts of Justice hearing this case. It is all about s.54(9) of PACE which requires that strip searches are done by and officer of the same sex, and whether it is lawful for police forces to go outside of PACE and come up a "consensual search" regime which allows police forces to offer that female police officers will search male detainees who say the magic words.
We are at the Royal Courts of Justice today. We hope to live tweet the judicial review brought by Sex Matters against the National Police Chiefs' Council and the British Transport Police.

BREAKING: Health secretary @jamesmurray_ldn has refused to honour a meeting with the Darlington nurses Bethany Hutchison, President of the Darlington Nursing Union, said: “We were encouraged when @wesstreeting recognised the seriousness of our case and indicated a willingness to meet. That commitment now appears to have been set aside. This issue is not theoretical, it affects frontline staff every day. We are simply asking for clarity, for the law to be applied properly, and for our dignity and safety to be respected. We urge the current Health Secretary to honour his predecessor’s commitment, meet with us, and ensure that what happened in Darlington is never repeated elsewhere in the NHS.” Andrea Williams, Chief Executive of the Christian Legal Centre, said: “At a time when clarity and confidence are needed, the continued failure to ensure compliance with the law on sex and single-sex spaces across the NHS is deeply concerning. This is a snub to the nurses who have fought for years to secure dignity, privacy and safety at work. The Health Secretary should meet them without delay, listen carefully to their concerns, and provide assurances that their right to single sex spaces will be respected." Sturgeon demanded women's groups had an inclusive trans policy to qualify for govt funding. The women refused, and Sturgeon withdrew every penny. A massive transfer of essential government funding for rape crisis and breastfeeding centres went from women to men.
£3.9m to Scottish Trans to campaign against women's spaces. The SNP worked hand in glove with taxpayer-funded trans lobbyists to undermine women's rights. Could this be happening in Wales? (Yes.)

Whilst there is a focus on the activities of gender clinics, could I recommend taking an interest in the activities of the adult Welsh Gender Service? An independent investigation was ordered in July 2024. It hasn't started yet. genderblog.net/welsh-gender-…

Hello all. A quick update from me. My sex screen assay is progressing well. I promised rapid: I can detect SRY from a cheek swab in about 30 minutes. I am currently testing whether I can drop it to 10 minutes without compromising reliability. I promised cheap: The current cost per assay is about £2. I am currently testing whether I can drop this to below the pound line, and it’s very promising. I promised accessible: The assay could be run by any grassroots sports coach, school nurse, and my Mum. I promised on-site: This is where my lab efforts are currently focussed. I’ve always held “from the UK to Uganda” as a principle, and ensuring easy deployment is crucial. I’m currently learning a lot of materials science… The other main push is setting up various blinded, larger-scale tests. This will require lots of form filling. If anyone wants to help me hit my final budget target, my crowdfunder is here.
Every girl deserves a fair chance in sports. Developing a rapid, low-cost sex screening method can protect women’s categories and promote equality. Your support can make this vision a reality. Please share and consider donating to help fund this crucial research! gofund.me/632105634

Men dominate and outnumber women in all kinds of areas of life - particularly the ones where physical strength, money and Power are concerned. I have no idea why Steph finds this surprising. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Men with long hair are not marginalised. And they are not women or no sex at all. They remain men and are subject to the same laws as everyone else. This acceptance of trans exceptionalism is astonishing.
'When people see people in positions of power who belong to the marginalised identities that they've only seen in quiet corners, there is an element of pride there' Scotland's first openly non-binary MSP has said they hope more transgender people will seek election 👇

1 The Code of Practice is not “rules”. It’s guidance. 2 Rejecting the EHRC’s guidance doesn’t change the law. The law stays the same. 3 Parliament can of course change the law. And if this is what you mean, say so—and also how you’d change it. Otherwise this is just posturing.
I've joined more than 120 colleagues in signing this EDM to reject the EHRC Code of Practice. Trans people deserve love and equality. I’m worried these new rules won't achieve that. We need a proper debate in Parliament on them, and what they mean for our trans constituents.
Community note
The EHRC Code of Practice is legal guidance on single-sex spaces and services under the Equality Act. It does not provide guidance on 'love and equality'. Rejecting the guidance will not change the law. gov.uk/government/pub… equalityhumanrights.com/our-work/uk-su…

Housing male prisoners in women’s prisons is a clear breach of the Equality Act 2010. Yesterday I asked the EHRC what they are going to do about it given they have responsibility for enforcing the Equality Act.

Next week we will be in court for our long-running challenge against the National Police Chief's Council and British Transport Police for their policies that try to get around the law on police searches which must be same-sex. This is round 2. ⬇️
Female police officers should never be expected to search men who say they are women. We’re in court on 16th June, standing up for officers whose forces think unlawful searches can be allowed “by consent”. Will you support our legal challenge? sex-matters.org/take-action/…

Revolting man.
This trans identified male tried to sue his workplace on the basis of gender discrimination. Employed as a childcare worker, he offered an 11-year-old child a “free kiss” as a prize during an activity. The WRC dismissed the claim Safeguarding concerns must always come first

An important point. Ask the question clearly, you get a different picture.
Even among students (exposed to so much propaganda and peer pressure on this issue), a decisive majority disagree with males using women's changing rooms (and vice versa). Great to see the question asked really clearly by @HEPI_news (so often not the case in polling this topic). Interesting given that universities' failure to uphold EA2010 seems to be driven by fear of (perceived) student opinion. Yet this polling demonstrates that most students quietly disagree with their activist/NUS peers. I'd love to see further breakdown of the numbers, e.g. Russell Group vs other students @nickhillman
