Distance covered is the most abused stat. It is not a measure of conscientiousness. It is mostly a measure of psychological safety to press, break forward into space, create space at expense of compactness, execute an intact game plan etc, which all disappear upon getting panned

Of course, much of that wealth is locked up in family homes. But the point remains. The triple lock is funnelling an ever-larger amount of cash to many, many people who really don’t need it - at the expense of younger families who are statistically likely to be in greater need.
