I once had a table next to OG at Pai and when his pad thai arrived he said “What’s that” and his date said “That’s what you ordered.” Best of luck to him in New York
The Toronto Raptors are finalizing a trade to send OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks for a package including RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and draft considerations, sources tell ESPN.

every day people are out here trying to make public defenders lives worse
My new favorite app, WalkNYC, tracks all of the blocks you’ve walked, with 17,418 blocks to walk in NYC alone

Not endorsing Orkin—who’s challenging Eric Adams’ sidekick Jenifer Rajkumar—is inexplicable.
Replying to @MichaelLangeNYC
Mamdani did not endorse four NYC-DSA insurgents facing incumbents: David Orkin Christian Celeste-Tate Eon Huntley Conrad Blackburn This makes his decision to endorse Darializa Avila Chevalier even more notable — she’s the only challenger he backed this cycle.

The Court St protected bike lane had nothing to do with Caputo's Bake Shop closure. It turns out that the owner decided that blaming cyclists was easier than admitting his oven was full of mold and mouse droppings. nypost.com/2026/05/24/us-new…

Great to see work starting on the Brooklyn Bridge bike lane redesign. I’m begging @nyc_dot to please hang the No Pedestrian signs that are on the other bridge bike lanes but are inexplicably absent here. I will personally write a check for parts and labor, @nick_benson @vinbarone
NEW: Mayor Mamdani’s Department of Transportation will finally follow through on a mothballed 2024 plan to build a new and improved Manhattan-side bike lane and pedestrian entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge. nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/03/…

Looking forward to learning from whom Ross Batman ripped off his “Mets fans are all gentrifying transplants while Yankees fans are all salt of the earth workers” bit without attribution.

Incredible chutzpah by @bradhoylman to cite loading zones as the reason a @NYCBikeLanes can’t be installed on Chambers St. when those very zones are blocked 24/7 by @placardabuse and city employees, forcing trucks to stop in the street to make deliveries.
Manhattan politicians called Chambers “less suitable” because of the alleged narrowness of “the available roadbed” and the fact that Chambers is an “existing truck route.” But that's how the majority of cyclists currently get across town. nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/05/…

There are at least 8 NYPD cars with 2 officers on their phones sitting in each 24/7 surrounding 26 Fed Plaza 2 blocks from City Hall despite no protest activity for months and a historically large DHS budget. Lighting money on fire.
New: The NYPD is on track to spend nearly $1B on police overtime this fiscal year — a clear sign the department has made little headway on Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s goal of driving down the entrenched form of spending. politico.com/news/2026/05/13…

I understand the @MTA needs revenue, but to have multiple of these giant video boards on the platform that just show ads or art, but *never* display train information, especially when there are multiple line changes due to weekend construction, is awful service @NYCTSubway.

There's that famous @NYPDPC discipline on display--allowing senior NYPD officers to openly flout the Patrol Guide and engage in prohibited conduct on duty, while harassing someone selling bottled water in the park.
Replying to @_elkue
NYPD Deputy Inspector Minor, cigar in his right hand, orders Lou Olmeda of the Bronx to stop selling bottled water. Olmeda said he will head to Tompkins instead

lmao. 2 months ago C&S proclaimed that "Julie Menin always gets her way." Now it's excuse peddling that it's not "fair" that she is dealing with issues that "aren't of her own making"?
“This has not been a fair 100 days” A little over three months in, Julie Menin has faced a number of thorny political issues – more perhaps than many of her predecessors were forced to confront early in their tenures. The majority of these challenges aren’t of her own making, but some pose the threat of becoming bigger issues down the line. cityandstateny.com/politics/…

There have been no fewer than 10 RMPs and NYPD vans, and at least 20 officers, surrounding 26 Federal Plaza 24/7 for more than 10 months despite (1) no protest activity, (2) yards of protective barricades, and (3) a gigantic Homeland Security/Federal Protective Services budget.
Does anyone in city government care about the bloated police overtime budget? Hundreds of hours of redundant overtime with zero oversight. It’s all a joke.
