The worlds biggest study of post acute #COVID19 symptoms in children is out as a pre-print - the CLoCK study! Fortunately results are very reassuring regarding symptom frequency and impact Some important lessons, let's take a look 🧵 1/ bbc.co.uk/news/health-584105…

Helpful data on short- and medium-term risks associate to #COVID19 infection and #vaccination
Look at the risk of adverse events following vaccination (blue) versus #COVID19 infection (gold). Myocarditis, pericarditis, blood clots, intracranial bleeding, etc are all substantially more common following infection versus vaccination. From @NEJM: bit.ly/3myIpRJ

Vaccines should not be the preserve of rich countries bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n204… Interesting read which touches on "vaccine apartheid" and how inequalities in the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines are causing preventable suffering and prolonging the pandemic.

Very informative thread on how the spread of a virus may not always be straightforward, the role of superspreaders and some thoughts on how to combat this. Will be interesting to see how this is observed with the new test and trace schemes. #TestandTrace
Replying to @andrewleedr
We can't identify superspreaders so we need to continue to maintain physical distancing & hygiene measures. Pre-covid I told my students there was little evidence for #facemask use. Been convinced by @trishgreenhalgh & will advise otherwise now based on precautionary principle.

In the Journal of Critical Care, @ma_xiya and I performed the first mapping of the global availability of ICU beds. While this is only one piece of the puzzle, it provides some insight in the ability to cope with critically-ill #COVID19, now & in future. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
