Wellness Wednesday: February 14, 2024 youtu.be/gmxFPBl4oOQ?si=2sKe…… 🏃‍♂️ Mid-February Check-In: Adapting and Progressing 📷 Halfway through February, it's already clear how changing up your routine plays a crucial role in growth. Comparing my running stats, February 2023 saw me covering 46.4 miles. Fast forward to mid-February 2024, and I've run 31.8 miles in fewer outings, maintaining nearly the same pace. This year's focus is on quality over quantity. I'm pacing myself, ensuring each run is more effective than the last. If this trend continues, I'm on track to match or potentially exceed last year's distance by the end of the month. This adjustment isn't just about physical performance; it mirrors our need to stay mentally flexible and resilient. As we head into the second half of the month, I'm reminded that being accountable to ourselves/yourself means recognizing when to push and when to pace. By month's end, I'm aiming to hit the 60-mile mark, a reach maybe…but steady pacing and the willingness to adapt is the priority. The variations in the data reflect an adjustment to external or internal factors, whether they are environmental, personal, or professional changes. Staying committed to regular physical activity, even when circumstances change, is essential for mental and physical well-being. It demonstrates accountability to oneself, and by keeping fit, you're better equipped to care for those around you. Let's keep moving forward, mindful that caring for ourselves allows us to be there for others. Here's to a strong finish to February! #RunningGoals #MidMonthMotivation #AdaptAndOvercome #WellnessWednesday #WellnessJourney #ConsistentPace #MentalResilience #PhysicalEndurance #SelfCare #Accountability #Mindset #Selfcare

Can you spot the day I had a panic attack behind these smiles? Mental health struggles are often invisible, hidden beneath the surface. As we navigate life's changes, it's crucial for coaches/leaders/managers to tune into the unique needs of each individual you/we encounter. youtu.be/h1TzKC7AKRE?si=V03l… via @YouTube #WellnessWednesday Spotlight: Justin Turner's Leadership This week, we're diving back into the Toronto Blue Jays' off-season, specifically the acquisition of Justin Turner. Despite some skepticism from Toronto media about the team's off-season moves, Turner's recent MLB Network interview was a masterclass in leadership, underscoring why his signing could and should be the game-changer for the Jays in 2024 that no one is talking enough about. Turner isn't just about personal accolades; he's the epitome of a team player. His commitment to uplifting others and fostering success within the team framework is precisely what makes this move significant. In the world of business and baseball alike, the bottom line often takes precedence. Meanwhile, the Jays, like any other team, aim for profitability, meeting expectations, and leadership effectiveness, which are always under a microscope. Turner's arrival might just be the catalyst the team needs, offering a lesson in selflessness and collective success. It's hard to gauge the dynamics of the Jays' locker room from the outside, but what Turner brings transcends mere gameplay. His philanthropic endeavours and dedication to mentoring young talent embody the essence of a player who truly understands the bigger picture. #BlueJays #Philanthropy #RobertoClemente #LosAngelesDodgers #JustinTurner #LeadershipInSports #MLBCommunity #SportsMentorship #TeamDynamics #AthletePhilanthropy #BaseballLife #WellnessWednesday #CharacterCounts #Teamwork #MLB @redturn2 @bluejays @mlbnetwork @jtfoundation10

Wellness Wednesday: January 31, 2024 youtu.be/EdtzaUd8aAw?si=-Q-z… via @YouTube 🌟 #WellnessWednesday Spotlight: Justin Turner 🌟 This week, we're not diving into stats or contracts. Instead, we're focusing on the character and community impact of the Toronto Blue Jays' newest free agent signee, Justin Turner. Turner is no stranger to overcoming adversity, performing in highest-pressure situations, and, most notably, winning. But his most impressive victories have been off the field. The 2022 Roberto Clemente Award winner, Turner, exemplifies extraordinary character and philanthropy, embodying the spirit of the award named for the legendary humanitarian and MLB HOF’er. With the Justin Turner Foundation, established alongside his wife Kourtney, Turner has championed causes for homeless veterans, children with critical illnesses, and youth baseball. In 2021, The Dream Center changed its name to the Justin & Kourtney Turner Food Bank. Their annual golf tournament raised over $650,000. His commitment extends to brightening the lives of young patients by involving them in unique ways, like wearing cleats decorated by children from local hospitals during a game and /or making a personal connection with those he supports. As the Blue Jays welcome Justin Turner, they gain not just an athlete but a leader whose actions speak volumes about his dedication to making a difference. That's the kind of teammate who enriches a team beyond anything he does between the lines. #BlueJays #JustinTurner #CommunityHero #RobertoClementeAward #MakingADifference #BeyondBaseball #Toronto #WorldSeries #CommunityImpact #JustinTurnerFoundation

Wellness Wednesday: January 17, 2023 youtu.be/duOwLR62o4M?si=Vpyq… 🌟 #WellnessWednesday Spotlight: Bryan Torres 🌟 Bryan Torres of the Milwaukee Milkmen is an outstanding player. He’s also a back-to-back All-Indy Team recipient who’s truly taken his game to new heights. @AA_Baseball @MKEMilkmen #bryantorres @Cardinals Talk about consistency and growth - Torres hit over .370 for consecutive years. He took his home runs from 3 to 11 and skyrocketed his stolen bases from 22 to an astonishing 71 in just one season. These numbers aren’t just good; they’re great. Talent and hard work earned him this year’s Puerto Rican Winter League MVP. A testament to his relentless drive and skill, this just adds to his growing list of achievements. Torres’s journey is a prime example of how independent baseball plays a pivotal role in nurturing talent. In these leagues, raw talent is refined, and players like Torres can hone their skills and showcase their abilities in an environment that craves near perfection. Torres signed a minor league deal with the Cardinals a couple months back. He’s now really providing a glimpse of what’s possible. #BryanTorres #MilwaukeeMilkmen #IndyBaseball #AmericanAssociation #PuertoRicanWinterLeagueMVP #Cardinals #StLouisCardinals #NationalLeague #MinorLeagueBaseball #MiLB #IndependentLeagueBaseball #AllIndyTeam #BaseballJourney #InspirationOnTheField #WellnessWednesday #Spotlight

Wellness Wednesday: January 10, 2024 youtu.be/WPb1XApRxOY?si=Gyru… 🌟 #Wellness Wednesday: Authentic Leadership 🌟 I've noticed a trend in social media posts about leadership and organizational success for 2024. While there’s no question that the intention of these thoughts is positive, I can’t help but notice that THE buzzwords are overflowing more than ever—'proactive,' 'collaborative,' 'synergistic,' you name it. It's almost as if there's a script everyone is following. We all want to portray and essence of genuine communication, but It’s not authentic if everyone sounds the same. Leadership and teamwork don't need to be wrapped up in jargon. In fact, effective leadership is straightforward. If you're in a role where teamwork is key, whether as a manager, team leader, or a team member, remember the basics. Keep it simple. Treat your colleagues with respect. Be confident in your decisions and actions. Work together towards common goals. That's it. No need for complex language or convoluted concepts. True leadership shines through clear, honest, and straightforward communication. It comes down to understanding and respecting each other. #LeadershipGoals #AuthenticLeadership #SimpleYetEffective #TeamworkMatters #CutTheJargon #RealTalk #WorkplaceWellness #2024Vision #KISS #Robots #EffectiveLeaders #Leadership #Consultant #AlwaysImproving #igniteCHANGE #WellnessWednesday

Wellness Wednesday: January 3, 2024 youtu.be/prtxHOC2b6U?si=Aptk…@JimIrsay @Colts As we wrap up our #RunningForACause initiative, not to get all emotional, but I’m filled with a lot of self-reflection. This December, we've managed to surpass our goal, hitting 58.4 miles and turning that into a $188 donation to the Indianapolis Colts' Kicking the Stigma Foundation. Initially, one might view $188 as just a drop in the stratosphere. Questions arise: will it make a difference or even get noticed? It's crucial to realize that the value of this donation transcends monetary worth. It's a symbol of our/my commitment to mental health awareness and the stand against the stigma surrounding it. Every dollar signifies the collective effort to keep this conversation alive, especially around topics like anxiety and depression that too often remain in the dark. The involvement of figures like the Colts' owners and players in mental health advocacy brings an influential voice to this cause. Their openness and support provide a significant boost, breaking down barriers and making mental health discussions more commonplace. It's incredibly impactful to see these players, who are admired for what they do on the field, showing genuine concern for mental wellness. Their actions resonate, encouraging people, not just the fans, to view mental health struggles as universal and nothing ever to be ashamed of. Imagine if this #WellnessWednesday leads even one person to explore the resources provided by Kicking the Stigma. Maybe they watch a video or read an article that ignites change in their perspective, offers solace, or encourages them to seek help. That potential makes each mile or KM run and every dollar donated incredibly meaningful. As we close this chapter of #RunningForACause, it's important to remember that our journey toward understanding, supporting, and improving mental health is continuous. Our small act of donating is more than just a financial contribution; it's a part of a much larger narrative. A narrative that we hope will continue to grow, powered by our efforts and the influential voices. #MentalHealthAwareness #DecemberRunChallenge #MilestonesMet #RunForWellness #MakingADifference #SupportingMentalHealth #EndOfYearSuccess #WellnessJourney #EveryStepCounts #RunningCommunity #igniteCHANGE #Runners #Running #Anxiety #Depression #MentalHealth #RunnersofIG #KickingTheStigma #IHope #JimIrsay #Colts #IndianapolisColts #Football #Donation #NFL📷 #Stigma

Wellness Wednesday: December 27, 2023 youtu.be/rPy-aWJKIuU?si=CF1W… December is coming to a close, and our #runningforacause journey is picking up steam! Nearing 50 miles, I'm doubling my runs to add more distance, trying to keep mental health awareness at the forefront.  It's not just about the physical benefits from the run; it's about keeping the vital conversations around anxiety and depression going. Everything this month translates into something tangible for those facing mental health struggles. As we approach the year's end, let's remember the power of perseverance and the importance of our mental health and wellness. 🎓 And in the spirit of personal growth, I'm thrilled to share that I've completed my first class in a Harvard specialization - 'Power and Influence for Positive Impact.' Had to get creative today. A migraine truly mucked up my day. So I had to break the mileage into sections. If you’ve ever had a migraine you know what I’m talking about. It’s a world of hurt. Stars ⭐️ 🌠 you know what the stars mean…🤯 Anyways, the moral of the story. A migraine is temporary. ➡️Struggles with mental health is anything but… ➡️We know that conversations around mental health and wellness can’t be temporary Words are important. Words are powerful. Words can make all the difference in someone’s day. Positive and negative. A coach for example; business or athletic. You really don’t know what your colleague, player or employee is going through. Are you taking that into account when speaking to them? Now this is a whole other topic for another day, but when you’re coaching, guiding or mentoring you really need to take into consideration all factors. Impact of words…I watched a clip of an interview this evening with @wolfofwallst “Jordan Belfort” who you may know from the Wolf of Wall Street. His persona, his story is so out of this world it’s hard to believe. Harder to believe is that he struggled with anxiety. His lifestyle, from what we have seen and read, has #anxiety written all over it. He said what we have seen of him; the movies, the money etc…that was fear. He said anxiety is/can be debilitating. It’s two different things. I’ve been writing about/reading about/ interviewing people about/anxiety and depression for years. Hearing others discuss their situation always made me take a breath and revaluate. The positivity of words is what that is. Maybe he’ll talk more about that in the future? At the very least one person sees that or reads this and it helps them in some way. Long story short, keep the conversation about mental health going. #MentalHealthMatters #RunForChange #MentalWellness #IgniteChange #CharityRun #MakeADifference #RunnersCommunity #SupportSystem #BreakTheStigma #igniteCHANGE #anxiety #mentalhealthandwellness #depression #running #runningman #runners #miles #km #kilometers #wolfofwallstreet #jordanbelfort #words #powerofwords

Here’s a 70-pound transformation over four years and my progress since I’ve been tracking. It wasn’t just about shedding weight; it was about adopting new habits, cutting out booze, saying yes to regular runs, and mixing in some light strength training. No gimmicks no bullshit no supplements—just persistence, a clear goal, and a willingness to push your body. Tough doesn’t mean impossible. It’s about your health, your body and your future. If I can do it…cliche insert here! Just work hard that’s it. It’s not rocket science. Most of us will never be on the cover of some health magazine. We’re just regular people trying to navigate life and staying on point while we’re at it. And big shoutout to my friend and former @yorkupanthers @yorkunebraska teammate @cweston_founder My dude has been on his own fitness journey and it’s awesome to see what he’s accomplished and what he’s still accomplishing. 🏃‍♂️ #WellnessWednesday🏃‍♂️ In December, I’m #RunningForACause! Each mile is more than a step forward physically—it’s a stride towards supporting mental health and wellness. Catch up and see how far we've come in raising awareness and funds for mental health initiatives. Here's a look back; ➡ einpresswire.com/article/638… I want each run to count for more. Kicked it up a notch #runningforacause yesterday Not too cold for a Saturday morning run, but that’s not what’s important. What’s important is the nearly 7km or 4ish miles completed. That takes us to 51 km for the month with a week to go. I know that in the grand scheme of things $2 per km won’t make a dent, but in the end it could make ALL the difference to someone at that time. Equally as important is continuing the conversation around mental health and wellness and providing the resources or outlet someone needs. #MentalHealthMatters #RunForChange #MentalWellness #IgniteChange #CharityRun #MakeADifference #RunnersCommunity #SupportSystem #BreakTheStigma #igniteCHANGE #anxiety #mentalhealthandwellness #depression #running #runningman #runners #miles #km #kilometers

Could’ve taken Xmas off for #runningforacause but I didn’t. Mental illness doesn’t rest. Anxiety and depression doesn’t take a break. I’ve experienced the good days, the bad days, and the absolute shit days of both. The more we talk about mental health the, better. The more we bring it to the forefront, the better. As you can tell, I’m really trying to stay focused on the runs. Even multiple runs a day. Am I sore, of course, but that pain is temporary. The pain and uncertainty that affects those struggling does not. 6 more days or runs, 6 more days of messages. Countless chances to reach out to someone who needs it. #MentalHealthMatters #RunForChange #MentalWellness #IgniteChange #CharityRun #MakeADifference #RunnersCommunity #SupportSystem #BreakTheStigma #igniteCHANGE #anxiety #mentalhealthandwellness #depression #running #runningman #runners #miles #km #kilometers
