A bit of an understatement. From what I quickly saw while turning around… (at least one) driver took out a utility pole with traffic lights and somehow launched themselves into the IHOP parking lot, landing on top of another vehicle. (Right next to the bus stop shelter)
12/25/24 7:56 p.m. All lanes southbound on Capital Boulevard are being diverted to Trawick Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes until repairs are made to the traffic light.

🧐 Does the new Red Hat include @Amtrak Acela service to Raleigh?
Proud to have voted to keep Red Hat amphitheater downtown & to expand and make it a permanent venue. While closing a portion of South St. was not ideal, it was the only viable option & city is planning a new connection for vehicles & improved bike/ped infrastructure. #ralpol

Just drove through here a few weeks ago going to Asheville. The picture doesn’t even truly capture just how much land is consumed by this insane interchange.

Headed to North Carolina this afternoon to join Governor Cooper at the groundbreaking for a new passenger rail route in Raleigh. POTUS' bipartisan infrastructure law is delivering projects across the country that will connect communities like never before.

Info on the new line from Raleigh to Richmond. $1 billion coming for it
Replying to @skippapotamus
A brand-new 110 mph railroad functionally dedicated to passenger trains. The routing saves an hour alone by a more direct path (see map). 4 new daily roundtrips from DC-Charlotte ( 1 existing with Silver Star).

Great news! USDOT will be providing a $1 billion grant for North Carolina to make progress on the Raleigh to Richmond Rail Line, an investment made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that I helped negotiate, write, and pass into law. This project is a big win for economic development in the region and I want to thank @SecretaryPete for recognizing its importance.

A highway literally has to catch on fire for transit to be prioritized appropriately in ā€œprogressiveā€ LA.

LADOT has adjusted signal times along the @metrolosangeles A and E lines for improved service into DTLA. Avoid traffic due to rain and the I-10 freeway closure by taking public transit instead. Visit metro.net to plan your trip.

Raleigh needs these installed in all buffered bike lanes to provide actual protection. We’ve seen time and again that flexi-posts aren’t enough. #ralpol cc: @OaksAndSpokes
Boulder is implementing "tall curbs" on a portion of its bike network. Very cool.

Until every day trips are faster it will be hard to continue to grow ridership. First is basically ideal scenario (hit the transfer just right) few mins later it’s far longer and more circuitous. These trips between two major transit stops should be fast and frequent. #ralpol

Frequency on 1 is ok, not great, (15 mins) but hourly mid-day frequency on 23L is a killer. When a trip requires transferring to an hourly route, it makes the entire trip incredibly unreliable. We have to get all routes to higher all-day frequencies to really expand access.

In a state that frequently decides statewide races in either direction by 100k. An 11-3 map doesn’t pass a basic straight face test.
Based on my initial look at the two NC GOP congressional plans, one is a 11R-3D plan ( 4R, -4D) that merges Davis & Foushee and eliminates Manning, Jackson and Nickel. The other is a 10R-3D-1C that makes Davis's #NC01 competitive and eliminates Manning, Jackson and Nickel.

With the amount of ink that’s been spilled by LR about tear downs, it’s a bit strange that they hold a fundraiser at a fairly sizable home that looks like it was built a few years ago after tearing down a more modest and affordable one. #ralpol
