I absolutely love the delusion of "We need to convert wine moms so they can be redirected away from successful protest towards doing community work" like they aren't already doing both. And like the need some 20 year olds to come tell them how to do what they are already doing.

i hope people's takeaway from this is "we need ranked choice voting in every election everywhere" and not "people need to drop out to consolidate the vote" having a broad range of left leaning candidates is good for democracy actually!!!!
legitimately a strong result for Kat? First time candidate, never ran before, cleared a well funded actual elected. More than a gimmick campaign.

All else aside, the IL-09 discourse is made very weird by a Very Online contingent which is just bizarrely indifferent to whether or not a Congressperson ought to have literally any ties to the district they’re representing.

People talk about Philadelphia like it’s the seventh circle of hell and not a city full of at risk people who may very well be killed by ICE who are already being abducted by ICE’s current operations in the city. We shouldn’t wish an escalation in any city.
can people stop fucking saying this shit btw

In this video, you can watch Border Patrol cause an accident with a US citizen, refuse to help him, and then ultimately arrest him for asking for their insurance. They locked up him, but then released him with no charges. Again only because he had video.
The New York Times obtained videos showing how Border Patrol causes accidents, lies, and arrests people for absolutely no reason at all. This is dystopian.

While everyone focuses on the Charlie Kirk story, this deserves at least equal attention: the U.S. military, in collusion with the South Korean government, maintained during decades a system where tens of thousands of women were forced into sexual servitude for U.S. soldiers, many of whom were minors. This isn't speculation: the South Korean supreme court ruled in 2022 that the government had illegally operated these brothels, in a way where the women were subjected to debt bondage and unable to leave. In fact, as per the New York Times (nytimes.com/2025/09/08/world…), "all the women [in this system] were held in debt bondage," so they were all, effectively, sex slaves. The scale of it was so insane that the economy around these brothels (bars, etc.) was estimated to make up about 25% of South Korea's GDP during the 1960s and 70s (lemonde.fr/en/united-states/…). Sordid detail: if one of these women developed a STD, she would be placed into quarantine facilities that US soldiers referred to as "Monkey Houses," (pictured below 👇) because of the screams of women demanding to be let out (koreanquarterly.org/features…). The women also had to wear numbered badges or tags, like commodity products. More than 100 of these women have now filed a landmark lawsuit against the U.S. military to hold it accountable as “the real culprit” in that state-sponsored sex trade. The women however, under agreements between the US and South Korea, cannot sue the U.S. military directly - only their own government. So, perversely, even if the court finds the U.S. military was "the real culprit" in this system of sexual slavery, it's South Korean taxpayers who will have to pay for that.

A genuinely scandalous moment; an internal ICE document *proves* that one of the people arrested at the Hyundai plant hadn't broken any laws, yet he was ordered to "voluntarily" leave anyway.

At least one of the Korean workers swept up in the Hyundai immigration raid last week was living and working legally in the US. Officials then “mandated” that he agree to be removed despite not having violated his visa. @guardian exclusive by @jlosc9 theguardian.com/us-news/2025…

I'm thankful DHS finally gave raw data on this assault claim, and wow, it shows why they've been hiding behind percent increases. ICE went from 1.7 assaults per month to 13.2 assaults per month at a time when they have MASSIVELY changed their at-large arrest posture.
NEW: DHS tells @FoxNews that assaults against ICE/federal agents conducting immigration enforcement are now up nearly 700% over the same time last year. I asked DHS for the underlying raw data: 1/21/2024 - 6/30/2024 10 assaults 1/21/2024 - 6/30/2025 79 assaults 690% increase

AOC has the voting base the democratic establishment claims it wants so badly. The voter base centrists are currently at the “WelcomeFest” to try to figure out how to get. But none of these centrists or moderates have what it takes to get that coalition and they don’t want to listen to the two congressmembers who have managed to obtain these coalitions.
Famed Trump-AOC voter Yahay Obeid, a Yemeni leader in the Bronx, will also be a Trump-Mamdani voter:
