Dr Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Birth Anniversary Celebrated in Vijayawada; Bahujan Cultural Event Highlights Social Justice Legacy

Vijayawada, June 3: The birth anniversary of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and renowned social justice champion Kalaignar Dr. M. Karunanidhi was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Thummalapalli Kalakshetram, Vijayawada, under the banner of BC Chaitanya Vedika. A special Bahujan Matta-Patta Cultural Event was organized to commemorate the occasion, attracting intellectuals, social activists, BC leaders, and students.
Delivering the keynote address, P. Wilson, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), paid rich tributes to Kalaignar Karunanidhi and highlighted his unparalleled contributions towards social justice, reservation policies, linguistic rights, federalism, and the empowerment of marginalized communities. He noted that Karunanidhi's visionary leadership transformed Tamil Nadu into a model state for social welfare and inclusive development.
Speaking on the occasion, J. Purnachandra Rao, Retired DGP of Telangana, emphasized the need to carry forward the ideals of social justice, equality, and democratic empowerment championed by Karunanidhi. He observed that the former Chief Minister's policies significantly contributed to the upliftment of Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and other disadvantaged sections.
Naragoni Goud, National Coordinator of AIBSP and prominent BC intellectual, stated that Karunanidhi's life remains an inspiration for Bahujan movements across India. He called upon the younger generation to study and emulate the social reform legacy of leaders such as Karunanidhi, Periyar, Ambedkar, and Phule.
Addressing the gathering, V. Srinivas, BC Chaitanya Vedika, underlined the importance of strengthening BC unity and advancing the agenda of social justice through education, representation, and policy reforms.
T. Chiranjeevulu, President of BCIF, praised Karunanidhi's lifelong commitment to the welfare of backward communities and stressed the need for greater participation of BCs in governance and public institutions.
Gowd Kiran Kumar, President of the All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA), highlighted Karunanidhi's contribution to the implementation of reservation policies and his consistent support for the rights of socially and educationally backward communities. He urged students and youth to draw inspiration from Kalaignar's lifelong struggle for equality, social dignity, and democratic rights.
The event also featured cultural performances reflecting Bahujan history, identity, and aspirations. Participants remembered Karunanidhi as an architect of social justice whose legacy continues to inspire movements for equality and empowerment across the country.
The organizers resolved to continue spreading awareness about the principles of social justice, constitutional values, and the contributions of great Bahujan leaders to nation-building.
