#Myeloma Paper of the Day: A differentiated T-cell repertoire (CD8 CD45RA CD62L-CCR7- T effector cells re-expressing CD45RA (TEMRA)) may define a functionally high-risk group (median time to progression of 2.1 years) of smoldering myeloma patients: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4206…. #mmsm
#Myeloma Paper of the Day: Immune-MRD status informs tumor-MRD outcome prognostication in myeloma pts on Len maintenance; T cell profiles enriched w/ activated cytotoxic effectors predict early relapse & quiescent/naïve T-cells predicting remission: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/4085…. #mmsm
#Lungcancer can co-opt genes that normally help a fetus develop and evade the mother’s immune system, according to research from Dr. Jung Hun Oh, an associate attending computer scientist in MSK’s Department of Medical Physics, and colleagues.
And while these pregnancy-specific glycoproteins (PSGs) can get activated in the cancers of both men and women, female patients had poorer outcomes. The analysis suggests targeting these genes might improve survival in female patients with lung cancer.

🚀 Just published in Bioinformatics! Introducing ORCO: Ollivier-Ricci Curvature-Omics, a python package for analyzing robustness in biological systems. A 🧵 on what it is, why it matters, and how you can use it. With the great team from @MSKCancerCenter
8/ ORCO is open-source & [relatively] easy to use! 🎉 Install via pip and start exploring network robustness in your data. Please reach out if you find any bugs or issues!
📌 Paper: academic.oup.com/bioinformat…
9/ Want to try ORCO? If you're working with omics data & want to see how network curvature can enhance your analysis, I’d love to help! Please reach out.

#Myeloma Paper of the Day: WEE1 expression is prognostic independent of known biomarkers, differentiates outcomes associated w/ known markers, is upregulated independently of its interacting neighbors, & is associated w/ dysregulated P53 pathways: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3997…. #mmsm
12/ Bottom line:
🔹 High WEE1 = worse survival in MM
🔹 WEE1 is independent of known risk factors
🔹 Targeting WEE1 might be a new therapeutic avenue
