@RonDeSantis should host his own debate in July. Any R that's qualified on ballot after June 12 can be on stage and Desantis is sole questioner. Pretty sure national and major Florida networks would air that. Bad look for no-shows

The chairman of the party should not be insulting the intelligence of Republican voters. A debate was promised and these ridiculous criteria are being used to renege on that promise and to engineer a preferred outcome. Why not just take 90 minutes, find a tv partner, and let the candidates mix it up? The only reason why you wouldn’t is if the party hierarchy is serving outside interests instead of the best interests of the voters.

Governor DeSantis understands that politicians work for the people and have to earn their support. Floridians deserve the chance to vet candidates, hear them debate the issues, and make up their own minds about who should lead our state.

“But glittering prizes And endless compromises Shatter the illusion of integrity, yeah”
FL's @GovRonDeSantis criticizes the @FloridaGOP's debate criteria, saying the party should not “engineer an outcome” in the governor’s primary: “There should be a debate... having an open process and having people be able to have their say is always better.”

🇺🇸 OFFICIAL STATEMENT 🇺🇸 CHRISTI TASKER CANCELS SUNSHINE SHOWDOWN PLANS After careful consideration, I have decided that I will not be attending the Sunshine Showdown sponsored by the @FloridaGOP unless Florida Lieutenant Governor @LtGovJayCollins and other known republicans requesting to speak are added to the speaker lineup and treated with respect 🫡 This decision is not about any single candidate, campaign or personality. It is about ensuring that Republican voters have the opportunity to hear from the leaders already entrusted with serving the people of Florida and shaping the future of our state. If Florida’s sitting Lieutenant Governor—a Purple Heart recipient 💜 combat veteran 🇺🇸 accomplished legislator 📜 and one of the highest-ranking elected officials in state government—is excluded from the discussion, it raises a larger question: Who else is being excluded from the conversation? 🤔 Are grassroots conservatives being represented? 🤔 Are veterans being represented? 🤔 Are the voices of parents, first responders, small business owners, and everyday Floridians being represented? 🤔 Are Republican voters being given the full opportunity to hear from all serious leaders and candidates before making important decisions about Florida’s future? Florida Republicans have built the strongest conservative movement in America by embracing open dialogue, robust debate, and the free exchange of ideas. We should never fear hearing from more voices—we should welcome it. As Republicans, we often champion transparency, fairness, and voter engagement. Those principles should apply equally within our own events and forums in which voters want to hear from ALL republicans. I look forward to attending the Sunshine Showdown when the event reflects those values by including Lieutenant Governor @JayCollinsFL and ensuring that attendees have access to a complete and meaningful discussion about the future of Florida. 🌴 My position is simple: Let Floridians hear from their leaders. Let voters ask questions. Let ideas compete. Let every qualified voice be heard. 🇺🇸 May the best Republican win the August primary. ADDITIONAL CLARIFICATION As an elected Republican Executive Committeewoman representing Miami’s District 17, I take seriously my responsibility to represent Republican voters within my district. This statement reflects my personal position and attendance and should not be construed as an official position of the Miami-Dade Republican Executive Committee (REC). To my knowledge, the REC has not met, deliberated, or voted on the Sunshine Showdown, the exclusion of Lieutenant Governor @JayCollinsFL from the speaker lineup, or any related position concerning this event. Under the Rules of Procedure of the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF), official positions of a county Republican Executive Committee are generally established through actions taken by the committee as a duly convened body, with proper notice, a quorum, and a vote of its members. As a result, absent such a meeting and vote, statements made by an individual REC member, the Chair, or any other officer should be understood as that person’s own views unless they are specifically authorized by the REC through its established procedures. For the public’s understanding, the REC speaks collectively through actions approved by its membership, not through unilateral declarations by individual members. Therefore, unless and until the REC formally considers and votes on a matter, no individual no matter what capacity can legitimately claim that a personal opinion represents the official position of the REC as a whole. Accordingly, my decision regarding attendance at the Sunshine Showdown is made solely in my individual capacity as a Republican voter, grassroots activist and elected committeewoman 🇺🇸 Christi Tasker ~ Miami GOP Republican Executive Committeewoman Dist 17 ~Natl. Re: Primary debates for Governor. whats the deadline for this mythical threshold? because I'm pretty sure the poll numbers will be changing as we get closer to the election. So is the deadline for poll threshold after mid July? Because you wouldn't need or want debates before the end of July anyways.

Property taxes are levied and collected by local governments. The state doesn’t get property tax revenue and the dramatic debt reduction had nothing to do with property taxes. Nice try, though.

Yes we have been getting screwed on property taxes while you’ve been governor the last 6-7 yrs

It's on the ballot and now Florida's citizens will decide. IMO if this fails to get 60% we're never getting rid of property taxes here in Florida and the other 49 states will then never fight to eliminate them either.

This is the continuity argument in one clip. @RonDeSantis makes the homeowner case: government is not “losing revenue” because it was never government’s money. Property-tax relief gives Floridians constitutional protection for their homes. @JayCollinsFL explains the next phase: write it cleanly, close the gaps, stop the fee-and-impact-charge shell game, protect core services, and force spending discipline. DeSantis put it on the ballot. Jay understands how to protect it. The ballot measure is the mission. Jay Collins is the continuity of that mission. Our Mission Continues. Keep Florida Strong!

Yep, my wife had a motorized scooter and I’d put it in the bed of the truck and we’d drive to a new neighborhood. Then I’d drop her off with the scooter on one side of the neighborhood and I’d go to the other side. We’d each knock doors until we met in the middle. Rinse and repeat for 4 months.
I read studying your first race you drove all around your district in your f-150 introducing yourself to meet potential voters 🫡

Today in Lakeland, I signed legislation to protect our citizens and communities from hyperscale data centers. SB 484: ✔️ Ensures that local governments maintain the authority to reject data center development in their communities ✔️ Prevents data center costs from being passed on to consumers, including electricity costs ✔️ Protects Florida’s water resources from data center consumption
These are much-needed protections for taxpayers and our natural resources.

DeSantis is a gift to Republicans. He structured a plan that used every lever of power that was workable to make Florida more free and more conservative than any other state - then he had the balls to see it through. I wish he could coach every other Republican governor.
It took DeSantis two days to get this done. Dude is simply a legend.

Will be interesting to see these guys campaign as Big Tech enthusiasts and guardians of the medical industrial complex.
Voters elected Republicans to protect freedom against both the Big Tech cartel and the medical industrial complex. Yet, when given the chance to deliver for their constituents, not a single Republican House member could even be bothered to file a bill. Typical political shenanigans.

Earlier this week, I let the world know that our campaign is not going to pull punches. If we don’t discuss @ByronDonalds and his record now, the Democrats sure will. We cannot allow Florida to retreat after eight strong years of Governor @RonDeSantis. I will continue that fight for you and your family.
