Adyar river forms the main hydrology of South Chennai. A flood wall is being built in it at Nandambakkam along 3km encroaching half the river and denying it a flood plain. This is 50m inside an existing floodwall. River will severely punish such abuse of it.

There are serious illegalities with the Adani port proposed over the Kosasthalayar river. It is within the Pulicat Bird sanctuary and is situated in a highly eroding zone. In both places ports are illegal.

#StopAdaniSaveChennai is a lot more than the port or Chennai itself. Dredging 125 million ton from sea bed & reclaiming 1966 acre sea for port will put >50,000 fisherfolk income in danger. It’s been over two years and they continue to live there anxiously.
