I'd like SNAP Specs to have a fair chance to succeed. It seems unlikely because people's lives are in their phones and the Specs don't seem to have the access that first-party glasses will. Even if integration wasn't an issue, the product seems a generation too early to appeal to consumers. If there's a Specs 2 with a 70 degree FOV, that seems like a more viable product.

Meta donating AI glasses to blind veterans is laudable. Emotions aside… Does it mean sales were down? Do they want to clear out inventory before Connect because no one will want the current models because of what will be announced? Are new Meta glasses getting the same access (whatever that is) to iOS that Google glasses are getting? Will Meta promote invasive features such as face recognition as “improving the lives of blind veterans?”

Why isn't Flint in charge of AI training?

Can AI handle the fog of war? 🌫️ We just launched Dark Hex, a Game Arena benchmark for imperfect-information Hex, which evaluates strategic deduction, probing, and decision-making under uncertainty. Across 2,424 games, the first mover wins 61.6% of the time, and several models collapse when forced to go second. Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning shows a 38.8% first-mover delta, with GPT-5.4 mini just behind at 38.7%. GPT-5.5 is the outlier: 65.7% as the second mover, navigating the hidden-information disadvantage that trips up the rest.

I don’t get all the “Apple’s not really using Google AI” tweets. Apple didn’t have competitive AI. Apple got help from Google and now they do. Doesn’t matter if Apple built models with Google’s help instead of directly using Google’s models. Just. relax.

Sad to see the 3rd gen iPad Pro not get iPadOS 27. It hung in there far longer than I thought it could since it doesn't have an M chip. I think Apple missed a trick for services revenue by letting people pay a fee to have all the AI processing done in Apple's cloud instead of on device.

I wonder if you'll need an M3 or later Mac to run Xcode since some AI features require the M3.

Credit to Apple for including the AVP in slides and visionOS in updates. Now about a trade-in...

AI is killing All About Berlin. When you Google something, you used to get a link to my website, but now you get an AI-generated answer trained on my work. This has a devastating impact on traffic.

I wonder if Google negotiated iPhone access for its glasses as part of the price of the AI deal. Could also be a way to keep Meta out temporarily. Or could just be misleading and Android XR smart glasses work best with Android phones.

I seem to be alone in this but a device such as Project Aura that isn't really safe to use while walking shouldn't look like glasses or be shown being worn by someone walking.

Google showing text of the response while talking about their displayless AI glasses seemed intentionally confusing.

Well, it’s a secret to me until Apple-centric websites and podcasts summarize it.

Google now has a Fitbit Air and a Magic Pointer. Also, every Googlebook will have a rainbow-colored “glowbar.” Looking forward to whatever they call Ultra or Studio later this year.
