I did not intend to become this embroiled in the Lutheran discourse 😭. I’m going back to regularly scheduled programming, but here’s my parting take: The Gen Z LCMS trads need a better awareness of politics (the art, not US electoral politics). If you guys want to win and get what you want, you need to sperg less about theology, and focus that energy toward acquiring influential positions within synod and your districts. We can talk theology when we win, but until then, we gotta level up and become decision makers.

An important thing to keep in mind in the LCMS Bishop discussion is that, while the LCMS should adopt an episcopal polity, the timing is crucial. We absolutely do not want to give that type of power to our current synod leadership (especially not the Biermann wing). The name change of District President to Bishop is a perfect step for now, and we should wait to pursue full episcopacy until after the demographic crash. When Zoomer patriots are in control, then we can give them episcopal powers.

The Zoomers in the LCMS are correct in saying that the use of the secular titles “District” and “District President” are used for no other reason than “bishop” and “diocese” sounds too Catholic, and the boomers don’t like that. This is not sufficient warrant to break with tradition.

Given that DPs are the only people with the authority to expel a pastor or congregation from their district for false teaching, how does that differ from the function of a bishop?

Loving to see responses like this to the bishop overtures being removed. The LCMS boomer-aversion to the episcopacy in opposition to our confessions needs to be dealt with.
