This is a big day and now it is time to execute.
It is official. Today, the Government of Israel formally approved the new National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, charting a bold path to cement the country as a global AI powerhouse.
Formulated and led by The Israeli National AI Directorate | Prime Minister's Office, this comprehensive blueprint shifts AI from a series of tech projects into a core pillar of national infrastructure, digital sovereignty, and economic resilience.
We are operating within a critical geopolitical window. The nations that build independent, robust foundations today will lead the global arena; those that do not will find themselves dependent on others. This strategy ensures Israel commands its own technological destiny.
Here are the key pillars of the approved National Plan:
1. 𝐒𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐀𝐈 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: Establishing technological independence with a national target of 100,000 advanced processing units (GPUs) to secure computational continuity for local research, academia, and industry.
2. 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Developing a national quantum computer powered primarily by Israeli technology and R&D.
3. 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬: Concentrating national efforts on specialized domains where Israel holds a distinct edge: specifically Physical AI, Cyber AI, and advanced mitigation of Deep Fake threats.
4. 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭-𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥: Investing heavily in workforce training and education across all age groups to make AI literacy a native skill, alongside long-term planning for shifting labor markets.
5. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐈 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 & 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐮𝐛𝐬: Creating a centralized institute to bridge government, academia, and industry, utilizing dedicated "acceleration hubs" to convert complex global challenges into applied market solutions.
6. 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬: Expanding international partnerships and technological coalitions to solidify Israel’s role as a pivotal global power across the entire AI stack. Including

7. 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Embedding AI tools into government services to drastically cut bureaucracy, optimize workflows, and deliver faster, more accessible services to citizens.
Just as Israel transformed itself into a global cyber authority over the past decade, we are now accelerating to replicate that exact success in the era of artificial intelligence.
The infrastructure is being laid, the strategy is approved, and the work is already underway.
